Viera,Elezen and Miqote are made From the midlander model

they are similar but there is some clear differences that occur the way they are posed

People are being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian and will argue with you, even when it doesn't matter and you try to drop the subject yourself. Myself and many other people (read back in this very thread and other Viera threads) who see more similarities between Viera and Elezen than Viera and Midlander, in more than just height which leads me to believe that Viera were tweaked off of Elezen (which were just tweaked Midlanders... it's like two tweaks down the line). Agree to disagree. Conversation has absolutely no relevance to the topic and is just semantics.

Now then... male Viera would look awesome with the male Elezen build. You know, like Yoshi-P said. I think it would look nice and fit their female counterparts/lifestyle.

This argument is the dumbest one to date. Specially, considering most of the ppl using it are female vieras. We should also tell them to switch to a female elezem/femroe and wear MGP bunny ears right?

Clarification: Using your example it would be more like this actually Base (midlander) -> Viera

Why would they even use the elezen (modified for elezen) as a base for viera like the poster is implying, when they can just use the midlander body and adjust it's height (which they did)? It's crazy I am even arguing this.

I believe femle viera have a carbon copy body of female miqote, with taller height (both of the things cost basically no resources, just scale the model up and done) and then the heads and animations are the costy parts. I believe that they also didnt have to refit a lot of gear to female vieras considering they basically female miqote (could be wrong) and the only real work was from animations and head reffiting (the latter which they didnt do because resouces?)

Well they did omit male Miqo'te and female Roegadyn when they first released the game. Then they added them in by 2.0. Odds are if people keep asking they'll add them in by the end or start of the next expansion.

Yeah, I know that. It's obvious they are taking the what is it like 15 yo (?) looking viera as a concept, and it's a great fan concept, but Yoshida already said we weren't getting child races.

Yeah, Urianger looks great for an elezen. He has some really nice definition that would really fit a male viera if they went that route on the body.

Yeah, I'm not seeing the rabbit like features, and the concept I presented has half his face under a mask so I don't know how you can say it doesn't have 'rabbit-like' features if that is what you are referring to. The concept you showed looks like it would be of a character around the age of Alphinaud and Allisaie.

A build like Urianger’s coupled with a muscle tone slider would work very well from them. The concept art builds range from Elezen to Au Ra/highlander in size, so that appears to be the range they would be working with. I think anywhere in that range would look good.

To be fair 1.0 was a horrible mess to begin with and was totally rebuilt with a new engine to 2.0 the fact is the devs already answered the question to males being added and people don't want to accept it. Honestly am totally surprised people haven't complained about them not having the bunny tail. . . .

Every single female race sans Lalafell uses the same base model, so it's really nitpicking at this point... but.

Viera heads are bigger and they've smoothed out the model. That's it.

I expect them to just update the male Elezen body and upscale the head for male Viera tbh. Maybe give them a little more definition in the stomach/ab area.

I mean ... I really have nothing else to add. I find it kinda funny people seem to take issue with the statement that Viera look like better proportioned elezen. Like, that's about half the reason I decided to forgo swapping between Hrothgar and Viera. I played Femroe for years and never had much desire to play Femelezen and from body shape to animations to the way glam fits them they just look like better looking elezen.

I do remember reading that the males are aggressive toward one another, which I think is an interesting contradiction to what the one NPC said in game about them taking on apprentices. Then again, once those apprentices run off to do their own thing, they're probably considered competition.

I also wonder if that is again just the english language that already made them fierce protectors of the forest while the JP version decribes them more as nomads. In the end you have tribes with the Au Ra that are going around killing of other tribes and those include females too. Or the whole female only tribe that are still able to survive quite fine, even though the female Au Ra look like they could break their arms when they lift heavy weapons. So I am not really sure if that counts as evidence on how they look, especially in a fantasy game.

Anyway lets hope that we get them at all.

And its a bit funny seeing some trying to argue that something must be a child or must be a female even though its clearly a male, just not in a style they like. Its even better when you have that on a Final fantasy forum..since FF games love to make pretty boys. As someone that was and is still reading a lot of manga and looking at nice fanart, I just shake my head at some trying to take these fanarts down which clearly shows a male in anime style.

Also I agree with female Viera having a very similar body as the Elezen, but without the problems that those have. This is probably a good reason on why female Elezen have lost much with the inclusion of the Vieras. And Yoshida himself even saw the males more as Elezen like.

In the end this thread is just speculation anyway and no version is more true than the other.

I actually haven't seen a thread around these parts be locked for quite some time now in this particular sub-forum. I think if it were going to be locked it would have been already - and it wouldn't surprise me if it's being left open to contain as many of the 'male viera' posts as possible in one particular place. If this thread was locked, after all, I don't think that'd stop people posting about the subject.

Yep! I'm in agreement with you there as well! It also gives the development team a great opportunity to create another conventionally attractive male model to help tackle the shortage of options for those of us who wish to play something of a decent height but with handsome facial features and no excessive bulk in the same vein as Roegadyn.
