Long ago I asked how they do the forums, and iirc the response was along the lines of they translate quite a bit of what's being said and go over it and it takes a lot of their time. We've also heard a bit more recently that they take the top threads and read those.

On terms of if they do anything from what we say, I think so but it could just be coincidence that I ask for something that they already were going to do lol. But just picking a few examples:

Summoner used to not have demi. I had really wanted summoner to get bigger summons and I was constantly being stonewalled (lol) by people saying lore forbids it. At which point I started to write reasons it could work and had written A. what if the summoner collects aether in the air like a battery over the period of their attacks and then that allows them to temporarily go beyond the lore limitations by utilizing this battery (charge it up, then expend it). And B. in a different post said I bet there is loads of bahamut aether in the air. Now of course I could have just described a possible logical conclusion to players wanting something bigger, but we did happen to basically get a battery mechanic that uses our attacks and residual aether in the air and a bigger egi as a result of it.

Another random class example, I had wanted Paladin to get a protective skill that had wings emerge from his back and protect those behind him in a cone. A while later we have Passage of Arms.. I think I said it prevented knockbacks in the cone or something but I was still like mouth open "who do I have to hug for this?". Interestingly Yoshida said he was surprised when he saw one of the designers working on this concept just for fun and they convinced him to add it (paraphrasing), which means either feedback goes to the proper channels and perhaps not always through Yoshida (which makes sense, the dude would need to be a literal computer to be able to absorb all the forums all the time lol) or coincidence . Much weaker example being I (and a few others) had asked if Paladin could keep going down the holy route, and so it seems we are (earlier on Paladin was less magical/holy).

In 1.0->2.0 time (ARR almost entering closed beta) I made a post detailing a system that allowed you to manipulate the camera, emote animations, lights, and filters, so you could take pictures. The purpose being to celebrate the social aspect of the game and as well act as a great source of fan-advertising.

Probably more likely something to have happened naturally anyway but I had really disliked the 1.0 materia system that broke gear on failure, asked for loads of stuff that didn't get added (which is cool, never expect everything I want to be done because some of it is probably terrible lol). But notably materia slots were added to gear, including dungeon gear, gear no longer broke, and caps were added to prevent some of the silly stat stacking (things I asked for). In that thread I also detailed a system to craft advance materia in the basement of the FC as big community projects (many stages, group crafts), now of course again could be coincidence but the whole "miniature"/"workshop" felt really similar to what we see (although has nothing to do with materia).

Quite a few other small items I can think of (QoL/UI/etc) and it leaves me with a strong feeling that either I'm a broken clock right twice a day, a knockoff nostradamus lol, or they do find at least inspiration from the forums. Often changing things to fit the game and their own spirit, which is good I think- keeps the game theme'd together better and I'm sure make some better decisions lol. I want to key in that inspiration and perhaps encouragement aspect though (if they're getting ideas/inspiration from their community they're not taking random comments and being like "copy paste that exactly", they massage it to be better and more reaslitic to implement lol, as well to ensure the FFXIV spirit and spin stays in it).

Also I full well expect quite a few of what I think are possible inspirations are just coincidence but the above felt a bit unique to me since they were said long enough before implementation that a development cycle may have included them. At this point I've either fooled myself or I can confirm to you that they do indeed both read and take inspiration/design consideration from the forums (including English). Now I can't tell you if that's because some Community Manager is working day in and out at a frenzy pace to communicate what we're saying and Yoshida is reading every bit, or if a random dev that can read English just sometimes pops in for fun but.. I still strongly feel that we're listened to, at minimum at least sometimes.
