I'm genuinely confused about people complaining about 5.0 DRK's "spammy" nature. Back in 4.0, DRK gameplay was spamming their enmity combo once at the very beginning of the fight, then spam their Souleater combo over and over, weaving in Dark Arts, using the occasional Bloodspiller with more Dark Arts, weave in the occasional oGCD with more Dark Arts, while being buffed by Blood Weapon's haste which let them attack faster, which meant faster Souleater combos. DRK's complexity back then came from managing their MP so they had enough to use as many Dark Arts as possible while holding on to TBN for mitigation and a free Bloodspiller/Quietus when it popped without either running out of MP nor letting it overflow.
Now in 5.0, DRK's gameplay is spamming the Souleater combo over and over, weaving in Edge of Shadow, using the occasional bloodspiller, weave in the occasional Carve and Spit, all while being buffed by Blood Weapon to help regen more MP in order to be able to weave in more Edge of Shadows during their burst phase, granted by Delirium allowing them to spam Bloodspiller five times in a row, all while Living Shadow does its own thing in the background. Their complexity comes from timing their MP spending and regenerating to maximize damage output in burst windows without sacrificing TBN's mitigation unless safe to do so and having enough blood to use Living Shadow on cooldown.
And now we have people saying 5.0 DRK is ruined and massive arguments.. unless I got something horribly wrong (which please, correct me if I did), the spammy nature of the job seems the same to me in both expansions, just focused around different skills. I understand those who say they don't like how the job plays, and that's fine since everyone has their own opinion, but I don't understand those who say 4.0 DRK was so much better and that 5.0 DRK is completely ruined and unplayable when the changes really aren't that big. It's always seemed like a really spammy job, it's just a slightly slower spammy job now. And no, the enmity combo added absolutely nothing.
It's fine not to like a job's gameplay, but don't assume that just because you dislike it then everyone else will dislike it too. The job itself is fine on a statistical level, it's not significantly weaker than any of the alternatives (for the most part), nor would people be at a disadvantage for playing it over any of the others. Likewise, don't assume that because you like it everyone's happy with it too. Opinions are something everyone has, and they all need to be respected.
That said, more would be gained by explaining what you don't like and offering ideas on how to improve a job as opposed to simply saying the job is ruined and that you're quitting playing it and constantly remind people over multiple threads just how upset you are with a job and how much you hate the changes. People care about the former, not so much about the latter.
tl;dr - 4.0 DRK and 5.0 DRK are almost identical. Let those who enjoy the job enjoy it and don't look down on those who don't. The only issue the job has is gameplay feel and there may be others who enjoy it, even if you do not.
At least, this is just what I think.
