Going to the same route as WoW. The game is TOO easy

To be fair... I never seen Larboard or starboard before so I got tripped up so hard there. WHY COULDN'T IT BE JUST FREAKING LEFT AND RIGHT SQUARE!!!!!!

Left and right aren't specific enough, because they either change with your orientation, or they need additional modifiers to identify who's right or left you're referring to. When you use Port and Starboard, it's independent of your orientation at any given time, so it's always the same for everyone in the party.

And Mr. Happy is just full of himself. But I'm 100% sure he was perfect at everything in this game the very first day he started playing ffxiv.

Are you going to back any of that up, or are you just throwing that out because slandering this guy is the cool and hip thing to do around here?

His statement is 100% accurate and many people on this forum, myself included, have admitted to thinking the same. That still isn't the same as putting down newer players for being new, thinking that you have the only correct way to do a raid encounter (in fact he usually says specifically as a disclaimer in almost every one of his ex/savage guides something along the lines of "this is just how we did it, it is not the only way, and probably isn't even the best way"), or any such similar "full of themselves" behavior.

The entire point of a game like this is to relax and enjoy. If you're not getting enjoyment because of a lack of "challenging content" then try a different game. This game has more to offer than just hard raid encounters. Majority of players don't do Savage or ultimate raids, and this game has never claimed it's to be a MDI/world first race type of game. Even yoshi-p has stated he expects people to take breaks. The game is intended to be played, but not excessively.

Some people finding a class too difficult/complex for them no matter how simplified it is (or becomes later on) is something that has been demonstratively shown time and time again, and not even just limited to this game. It is not a matter of opinion; it has happened and will continue to happen.

That actually isn't what he (or I) is doing, that's just YOUR interpretation of it.

Some people are, objectively, not good at playing a game. It's up to them whether they want to take that as an insult to their character, or as something to rise up on and improve from.

IDK if this will be popular here, but just a quick glance at the front page of general discussion shows how far away from the original idea XIV has gone.

There is virtually no challenge outside of savage raids. There is little community aspect since everything is instanced, and people are far more concerned with minions and mounts that discussing battle strategies, since none is required.

I'm pretty old now I guess. I came up on EQ, played XI for 5 years and started XIV on 1.0. I played XIV now on and off. I resubbed this month with the expansion hype, but leveling my AST I found myself asking why. I mean, healing is no challenge what so ever. I'm mostly spamming my DD spells.

This is just venting, i suppose, but after seeing a lot of WoW refugee threads and videos I couldn't help but thinking XIV is heading in the same direction.

I, myself, will probably buckle and get the expansion, but I will 100% be playing Classic in Aug. and Pantheon whenever that comes out.

TLDR: The challenge is gone and with it the community.

If you up the difficulty the community will be at each other's throats because you'll end up with more failure and more wipes. People already have meltdowns when something goes wrong. Are you prepared for more of that?

You have to admit, it's pretty amazing that people still somehow manage to mess up anything below Extreme.

Left and right wasn't too bad in other content. But using out of date terms causes more confusion I feel then just using left right up or down. You can look at the boss and adjust with the simple words everyone will know, it's a risk to use outdated terms cause not everyone will be on the up and up. Like me... I NEVER heard the starboard and whatever EVER until that boss. And it still bucks me up. I really wish Koji will just go back to using LEFT and RIGHT. Like PLEASE.

Larboard is admittedly slightly archaic, but starboard is a perfectly normal word that every educated person should be familiar with. And once you know what starboard means it is kind of obvious from context what larboard must mean.

I was worried someone would say that... Nothing in my life lead me to that word tho. Nothing. I was in the army for 8 years. did some college etc etc. And none of that... none used that word. Again I never heard of that word until Omega. Again... left right up and down is prefectly normal and everyone uses those. Why use something so out of left field when you can use something EVERYONE knows?
