Why would your Dragoon be stuck with only Monk gear? Where did I say 'every existing maiming set should be deleted'?

Pre-existing gear wouldn't be deleted (obviously), but all the new gear would have to choose between dragoon's knightly theme, monk's light theme, or samurai's edo period theme. And if Stormblood is anything to go by, 90% of gear would be either theme-less or mostly monk styled gear. Because I doubt they would keep making 2 sets of strength gear if they are merged. Maiming is closer to Fending than Striking in looks, and that would be lost on all new gear.
