So far, this one is one of the best idea I've ever found on the forums. I really like it and I certainly hope the development team would give it some thought.

It's a interesting concept, but I have a hard time seeing this implemented in a game such as FFXIV. Partly because when you say

"Hey this is kind of how a DEAD MMO did things."

Also players these days want a reward for doing...well anything it seems they can hardly walk from point A-B without crying if someone doesn't hand them a gold crown at the end of the journey across the hall. So such a "Custom quest system" would need a reward system in place to be used...and in such fashion players would ignore the entire "Point" of such a system and just find a way to short-cut the whole thing for the best reward.

Tough balancing act, it seems like a feature you would need to work on from the get-go to integrate into the game foundation and as such I doubt we will see it in XIV.

The point of is system like this is not to replace the quest and stories of FFXIV, but to add depth and lore to our community. You would be in no way required to do them, and the rewards if any should have no real effect on the game. In fact I think any reward given should come from the quest giver such as gil or items, that way it uses gil and items already in circulation. As to how difficult it would be to implement, i say revamping a graphics engine for scratch is much harder.

I would see programmable dungeons being possible, to a limited extent, as it is remisicent of moblin maze mongers in ff11. It would be basically like "make your own leve quest". I enjoy the more arena type possibilities that could come out of this. You could program NM fights in succession. Good training for LS members and good fun ;o

Rentable venues is an interesting idea. While in SWG it was up to players to "rent" venues to others, theres no reason the community here cant do the same. It does however boil down to how Yoshi-P constructs the player estates (will he take a narrow minded approach and stay close to mog houses, or will he think on a more macro level like SWG where you had amenities and other buildings available in player constructed areas - i assume the free companies will have to work hard to erect larger guild halls whereas the smaller companies or single players will settle for their own small houses)

It's a "Dead" MMO because LucasArts told SOE to shut it down so they could force as many users as they could towards swTOR. I don't really appreciate you putting down SWG like that.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

The game was dead long before SWTOR, was it still running? Yes was it still maintaining any semblance of a subscriber base? No. Game had reports of sub-10k users back in 2006 let alone what terrible numbers it was pulling in 2011.

Before someone asks, yes I consider XIV "Dead" But I have faith it can bounce back.

I like the idea in general but... as with everything, players will find ways to abuse it. *spawns Ifrit near newbiezone*
