    Player-Created Content Proposal for 2.0

    Greetings!

It's been a while since I last posted here, but I thought it would be worth discussing this particular subject. With the demise of Star Wars Galaxies, I shed a tear for the innovative ways SWG approached player interaction with the game world.

However, I feel FFXIV has a chance to revive some elements of what SWG accomplished, with FFXIV 2.0. Below is a list of features I'd like to see implemented in FFXIV, either for expansion or as a later patch after 2.0 is implemented:
    • Programmable Storyteller NPCs. (For player-run events & storylines, you use programmable tokens to create and spawn the NPC - there are two kinds of NPCs: Combat and Non Combat)
    • Programmable Quests & Dungeons. (You earn tokens from the mobs you kill, and those tokens can be used in a quest creator to add that mob to your customized quest)
    • Rentable venues for player events.

It's pretty straightforward. For Storyteller NPCs, you could program your tokens to spawn three Garlean Centurions with your own lines of dialogue, and set them with certain behaviors - patrol, engage on sight, talk on sight, etc.

For programmable quests, you earn tokens from the mobs you kill. So let's say you've killed 10 Marmots, and you earned 5 Marmot tokens. You kill Ifrit as well, and earn one Ifrit token. You can use those tokens to create a customized questline using those NPCs as "targets" for the players to take down. This also includes player-customizable dialogue.

Rentable venues would be instanced zones that would have a guest list - filterable by guild, linkshell, and individual.

    And so on.

    What do you think?
