I have played a bit of WoW, due to the better PvP there, but I have played years more FF14, and I'd say that excluding trade chat, WoW is actually pretty chill and not all that toxic.
If you play on the Oceanic servers like I do, even Trade Chat isn't that bad at all, as there is a lot less stuff about politics in there.

But I really am getting sick of people using WoW as the boogey man, or as a buzz word. You try to suggest better PvP modes? You get responses like "NO, more PvP is Liek WoW, WoW BAD, No PVP in FF14!" Players suggest an in-game parser? "NO WoW has people with parser add-ons, WoW is more toxic becoz parsers, no parsers in FF14!" What about Grand Company stuff being more meaningful? "NO, WoW has factions, Factions cause toxicity in WoW, NO Factions in FF14!"
WoW has become the default reason for people to disagree with stuff.

I was also worried about the marketboard stuff before it dropped, but I guess my server was actually one of the cheap ones, as a lot of stuff has gone up in price on my server, and more things are selling.

I will admit that hunts have gotten a bit worse though, people don't really wait for players to get there anymore.
It's gotten back to ARR and HW levels of EP's. It'll probably pass though, as those EPs get what they want, or get bored of hunts, as periods of EPs have passed in the past.

Crossworld is actually a large part of what killed WoW.
It broke up server communities and increased toxicity exponentially because people were no longer being held accountable for their actions.
Frankly, I'm surprised and disappointed that SE thought this was a good idea.

Well some players want to be with friends on certain worlds, but those worlds are locked and won't accept transfers/new alts being made. We then have players that want to take advantage of Preferred status worlds but still want to be close to friends on other worlds on the same centre. So in situations like this the Cross World Visits become really appealing for new and old players alike when the greater social and grouping up aspect is taken in to consideration.

I played WoW from Classic up to Legion.
It was the most toxic gaming community I've ever seen.

From my personal experience, the feast before they removed the chat, ARR Titan HM before they fixed the latency (I was told to kill myself and uninstall the game back then, which nobody in WoW has ever told me), Rust, Overwatch, and even Runescape has been more toxic for me than WoW.
Honestly, what I have experienced in WoW is nothing compared to the Rust community. Part of the reason why I like Rust, it's unique in how toxic it is, I can only handle it in small amounts though.
