I think the thread hit its last legs since now it's been many pages about people not caring to see another person's own value system in the game. I understand some concerns like "don't change how the story is delivered to me, I love it that way" (fair enough man, that changes the game for you) but there is a lot of "I play the game this way and I don't care you play it another way even if it wont affect me, suck it up cry baby".
Maybe we'd get more out of a new thread focused on a particular solution or even a different title may help lol (I imagine some people are like "What the new player experience was AWESOME for me, how could you say that like that?" and so they are here to defend that in part at least).
Though that's a huge simplification of many (perhaps not all) of the possible people seeking value from a possible solution. I know some people who just craft, so how dare they only play like 5% of the game's content right?
MSQ is obviously more content than crafting but I would argue doesn't make up the majority of your time if you keep playing regularly after you finish the story (if you stop then obviously it does lol). Also it is very fair, imo, to say some stories interest people and others don't (a minor example would be I may love the story with Raubahn but I wanted to throw Minfilla off a cliff lol).
Like how a silly amount of my time in Warcraft 3 was custom games (hardly played the original past the first MSQ), or WoW was mostly PvP for me. Just saying that MSQ does not equal a whole game, even if it can be (and probably is for a lot of people) an impressively large part of it.
That's also a huge simplification/generalization. It's like you get one rude person in a dungeon and now the entire gaming community must be worse than a chocobo smells. The people who complain could be the ones who skipped yeah, but that doesn't have to be true - the people complaining could also be MSQ devourers that ran out of MSQ and now think the game has no valuable content anymore.
