Elezen are not played as much as they would be because they have strange proportions that push them into the uncanny valley. There's a reason people call them "giraffes", and it's because their necks are too long, their heads are too small, their limbs look bizarrely stretched out... usually elf-types are extremely popular because they're the quintessential fantasy beautiful/handsome race, but it's tough to hit that mark if you're out there looking a little bit like ET. Many are hoping that the viera fill the niche of "tall, beautiful, graceful wood-folk" but with proportions that don't look odd.

People who would have played them if they weren't so alien are probably playing hyur or au ra.

I agree with this. I have a feeling male viera using a modified elezen base, one that would adjust the proportions so they don't look strange, would be quite popular.

It was years ago now, though when I played WoW I picked a Blood Elf as they could be designed to look fierce, handsome and had a decent amount of bulk on them. Something similar for Viera would go down very well, I suspect. Blood Elves were, after all, one of the most popular playable races in WoW and remain as such to this very day to my knowledge.

if they are just a elezen with a miqote aesthetic(which yoshi has said) damn right they will blow Elezen and Roe out of the water possibly even rival Male Au ra and Lalafell

edit: also like to point out the guy who made the Elezen doesn't even work for SE anymore so very slim chance of the same issue with Elezen occurring again

You only see them (cat people) for one feature it seems. There are a ton of factors as to why people play and like the cats. Most all of which would be absent in male Viera if the information we have is any sign of anything ( Yoshi said elegant, elezen body, miq face and bunny ears. The Viera are literally described as "Of tall stature and slender frame, the Viera's physical appearance is strikingly similar to that of the Hyur and Elezen, save for their distinctive long ears". The Viera we see don't have the persona of the kitty girls either so I'd say they aren't lying about that).

And about the cruddy Elezen animations and proportions ... that group has already been gifted Au ra. Another tall, slender, elegant, pretty race of men who have additional features that make them very unique. So for people not happy with the Elezen body they already have had the option for a better attempt on that body type ... which is why they're as popular as they are now. How many who are happy with their Draggo boys would give up all their cool features to have bunny ears? Cause that's why Yoshi said what's the point of doing another race like that ... whose only difference would be the ears.

Au ra may be tall, but they are still muscular and bulky. Also, I personally don't see male au ra as elegant, nor do I think they are "pretty".

I'll refer to Quipsy's post. I would like male viera to fill the "tall, beautiful, graceful wood-folk" niche that elezen unfortunately fails at.

The wood-folk trope is big in most fantasy settings. This is supposed to be a popular and iconic trope, but it fails here. Miserably so. Male viera could set this right. I wouldn't say it's so unreasonable to want them to be elegant, slim, and handsome if they were to be added in the game.

I find it so interesting that people here want to attach Viera males to cato bois when ... the Viera are literally described as looking like elezen with bunny ears. Yoshi even suggested they would legit just be elezens with different ears. So you'd be better off compared them to Elezen numbers which ... are right in line with roebros. But I guess that would look bad, right?

Yoshida has literally described them as Elezen male with Miqo'te face, and big surprise, that's almost exactly what regular viera looks like and BIG SURPRISE they seem quite popular, and even BIGGER surprise Elezen is Still more played than roes, and even bigger surprise if we go by what you say about "HAHA NOBODY WANTS THIS BECAUSE WE ALREADY HAVE ELEZEN AND THEY'RE NOT POPULAR!" by that logic we should get another cute race because lalafell and miqo'te are both way more played than roe's by and large.

Ew. No please Miqo-te face is so, is so... different.

Well that is other thing that have real struggle to understand why there aren't more Roes being the race the most attractive male model really thought Roes would be more popular.

However Roe / Miqo-te facial feature would not fit well on Elezen body type do believe the devs team would have to build the Male Viera model from the root something new, even there were two of the female viera faces which are gender neutral when got the opportunity to see it in fan-fest that was one indicator they must have been in the way to build it.

It looks to me the female viera use a face similar to miqo'te, so if the males were to ever be implemented, I would guess it would look somewhat similar.
Honestly, I think we should all have a little faith in the dev team if they decide to really do this. They did a great job on the females, after all.
Whatever design they go with, I'll respect it.
