If Male Viera would look like that many players would change to it in a blink of an eye not just cause that facial features are attractive but because would beat Cid and that is a miracle. It is possible to make a body with a little more meat on it that would carry several head-types well, which is something they're going to want to do--considering they'd want to cover everything from people who do want the classic bishounen to people who'd like something a bit more like this(me >>). They usually have three (or is it four? I haven't peeked in a bit) heads--the cute/young head, the Heroic Protagonist™ head, and the gruff head, which covers a fair amount of ground--meaning they don't all have to be serving Sesshoumaru looks. I've also seen bishounen/biseinen types on more muscular bodies and they can look fine, provided the body is well-designed to fit the proportions of it. (I bring up again the tragic comedy that is the elezen round head.)
No PC can beat Cid he is the most attractive NPC in FFXIV!![]()

Even the male viera in the concept art isn't that buff. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, and like I've said in the past, you're welcome to suggest whatever body type you want, but solely going off of what Yoshida has said and the concept art, what you guys are requesting is unlikely.

There's about a dozen other male NPCs I'd sooner grant that title. If not more.
That was more Yoshi P airing his ideas. At the same time, Matsuno seemed to like the Highlander physique for them. So we'll see. I could easily see them ending up between either build.I don't think a poll or player requests for a certain body type would sway the dev team to do anything. Just because it's possible doesn't mean it's likely. Yoshida already has a vision for what male viera would look like. It seems like if male viera were to ever be implemented, the devs already have a general idea for their appearance. It will probably be a fitting counterpart to the females.
Like I already said, I'm not just saying this because of my own preferences. It's literally what Yoshida has said, and it's shown in the concept art. At the very least, I can point to things that have been said by the producer himself, or even the concept art. Even if there's a chance things can change in development, it's better than having nothing to point at. Going off solely what has been said by Yoshida and the concept art, male viera will most likely be slim in build.
I do support having a variety of face options and muscle sliders. However, I have this to say to the people who want buff viera; I honestly don't think it's going to happen for you. At the very least, not with the information we have been given at this current point in time.
I don't think it'd sway them, per se, however it looks like most people who took it like the idea of a build somewhere between Elezen and Highlander/Au Ra.It's also possible that something was lost in translation or that it could change at some point during the development cycle. As Lauront's poll revealed, there's plenty of appetite for tall and well-built Viera men. That could very well sway the development team between the present day and the actual implementation. Assuming they're even added to begin with, of course.
In terms of their pure bulk, Au Ra are about the same size as Highlanders. Just not as lean/shredded. However, I agree with all this. I like the build of the guy in my sig. He's not overly bulky but it's plainly visible how strong his body is.No but they're certainly muscular. Muscle mass (Roegadyn and Highlanders) vs. Muscle tone and definition (basically all other non-Lalafell guys). A good example would actually be Highlander women - they're not any bigger for maxing out the muscle slider but damn, lady, do you have a license for those guns? And male Viera in the concept art were certainly dual wielding guns and a pack of ammo in their bellies. They had much better muscle definition than, say, Elezen.
Which in the first place would fit much better with their aesthetic, and I keep thinking about how Disney drew Tarzan. He was slim but obviously packing some serious muscles, which makes sense because he'd need to be both strong and nimble to be able to live on the treetops - something muscle mass would be a hindrance to as it makes the muscles firmer and harder, difficult to operate in such environments and speeds. That's a much better look for bunny folks who spend their lives not only protecting the forest but also doing it while hidden from prying eyes.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
There's proportions to take into consideration. Au Ra are much taller so even if they have the same amount of (non-relative) bulk, they'll look slimmer.
Which is yet another reason why I prefer Au Ra to be the base for male Viera![]()
This is a misinterpretation at best, or dishonest at worst. His post was clearly a joke.
I will post his tweet here so no one is mislead.

His joke was never meant to hint at or suggest this is how he wanted male viera to look.
