So doing some thinking, the way Yoshida described male viera, "slim, elegant, and handsome", makes it sound like the males will be bishounen. I don't know what the official meaning is, but commonly, I think this term is used for handsome characters that are slender, tall, and sometimes androgynous or feminine. When Yoshi P described male viera's appearance, I think he means the "ikeman" type of look. The kind of look you see male characters have in those dating games or games aimed at girls. These types of characters are popular in japan, right? So no, I don't think viera will be buff like how some people want them to be, especially since Yoshida said they would be slim. Maybe it will have a slider to have your character toned, but most likely not buff.
It is possible to make a body with a little more meat on it that would carry several head-types well, which is something they're going to want to do--considering they'd want to cover everything from people who do want the classic bishounen to people who'd like something a bit more like thisSo doing some thinking, the way Yoshida described male viera, "slim, elegant, and handsome", makes it sound like the males will be bishounen. I haven't peeked in a bit) heads--the cute/young head, the Heroic Protagonist™ head, and the gruff head, which covers a fair amount of ground--meaning they don't all have to be serving Sesshoumaru looks. I've also seen bishounen/biseinen types on more muscular bodies and they can look fine, provided the body is well-designed to fit the proportions of it. (I bring up again the tragic comedy that is the elezen round head.)
If there's something high I will definitely fall off of it
I really doubt male viera would look like this. I guess they could always add more face options that are more rugged, but that body type you posted does not match Yoshida's description. I think this is unlikely, and I'm not just saying that because I would prefer a slim character myself. The fact that Yoshi P mused on about how male viera may have used an elezen base model if implemented, as well as a face similar to miqo'te's, makes me believe male viera will most likely have a "bishounen" look. Remember, he described them as slim, elegant, and handsome.this(me >>).
If Male Viera would look like that many players would change to it in a blink of an eye not just cause that facial features are attractive but because would beat Cid and that is a miracle. It is possible to make a body with a little more meat on it that would carry several head-types well, which is something they're going to want to do--considering they'd want to cover everything from people who do want the classic bishounen to people who'd like something a bit more like this(me >>). Even the male viera in the concept art isn't that buff. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, and like I've said in the past, you're welcome to suggest whatever body type you want, but solely going off of what Yoshida has said and the concept art, what you guys are requesting is unlikely.
It's mainly the head/face that I'm talking about, which wouldn't look strange on a slimmer body. (The body there is like 98% highlander there and definitely not gonna hit the mark. Nope.) Elegant and handsome doesn't necessarily mean ikemen all the way down, the miqo'te red mage mentor guy has a very guff face and is still quite dignified and elegant, IMO. (I once saw someone with a 1-1 cosplay of him with their search info as "I'm babby?" and all I could say was "Yes. Yes you are.") Having the fresh-faced beauty of a younger viera right up to the dignified grace of an older, more worldly viera is certainly doable and something I'd love to see.I really doubt male viera would look like this. Not just elegant and handsome. Elegant, handsome, and slim. Emphasis on slim. All these descriptors combined lead me to believe male viera will look bishounen.
On top of the fact Yoshida mentioned how they may have implemented male viera - elezen base with miqo'te face. Also on top of the fact that the concept art itself doesn't show male viera as overly buff.
However, I understand what you're saying. Or at least I think I understand what you're saying. At the very least, you want a gruff face option for male viera. I support having a variety of face options for sure.
No but they're certainly muscular. Muscle mass (Roegadyn and Highlanders) vs. Muscle tone and definition (basically all other non-Lalafell guys). A good example would actually be Highlander women - they're not any bigger for maxing out the muscle slider but damn, lady, do you have a license for those guns? And male Viera in the concept art were certainly dual wielding guns and a pack of ammo in their bellies. They had much better muscle definition than, say, Elezen.
Which in the first place would fit much better with their aesthetic, and I keep thinking about how Disney drew Tarzan. He was slim but obviously packing some serious muscles, which makes sense because he'd need to be both strong and nimble to be able to live on the treetops - something muscle mass would be a hindrance to as it makes the muscles firmer and harder, difficult to operate in such environments and speeds. That's a much better look for bunny folks who spend their lives not only protecting the forest but also doing it while hidden from prying eyes.
