Well, I'd caution you against any pre-emptive triumphalism, when they're still basically reviewing how to implement the model. Just because he threw in words like "slim" or "Elezen" does not mean they will stick entirely to those confines, especially given how "slim" can be taken to describe physiques which are muscular but not overly bulky, like a body builder's.

I doubt anybody here can truly speak on behalf of the development team. With that said, nothing is set in stone at this time and the thread was created to allow for feedback. There's quite a lot of appetite where muscular Viera men are concerned, so it strikes me as counterproductive to attempt to stifle feedback along those lines.

Yoshi-P stated how Viera men might be implemented. A lot could change. We already know that some plans are scrapped entirely - such as how the Namazu came to replace the Qiqirn as a planned Beast Tribe during Stormblood's development.

Besides they don't look that slim to me, I'd say they have broadish shoulders, at least more so than an Elezen.

Nobody can say for certain whether it is a joke or not. Based on the character design in Matsuno's games, I'm inclined to believe that Viera men would look quite masculine and handsome. He did, after all, originally intend for Basch to be the main character of FFXII and that did not happen due to unfortunate executive meddling.

We already get it - you want them to be slim. You don't need to stamp out every suggestion to the contrary, especially when you created this thread with the intention of providing the development team with feedback.

The difference between au ra and viera is that we now know what female viera look like. They appear to be using an elezen base with a face that somewhat resembles miqo'te. Not far off from what Yoshi P was talking about, actually.

Regardless, even though it's still possible to change things in development, what I was pointing out is that Lauront referred to a joke tweet and suggested Matsuno would prefer a highlander physique for male viera. A joke tweet. But when it comes to information and ideas Yoshida straight up gives, the answer I get is "well, things can change in development".

I see concept art that could easily be construed as the Au Ra model, or an in-between.

And no, I don't take mere words as a guarantor of much at all.

Because they clearly can. Yoshida isn't even the only person to have input on the matter. So not sure why you're so bent out of shape over the matter.

Or pre-development, as they go over feedback, which this thread is for, and see voices asking for something closer to Highlander or Au Ra. Which, in the case of the latter, isn't even too far off from what Yoshida said, and will still be very much in-line with what the females look like.

Mind you, I do think that if they get implemented, we'll see something very much along the lines of the concept art. But what exactly that will translate into, no one knows. It's important to keep that in mind.

The female Viera have bodies that are very different from Elezen. Their necks and shoulders aren't horribly proportioned, their chests are shaped differently and their torsos are proportionally longer than an Elezen with similar limbs.

I always thought Basch had a kind of Viera-ish face honestly.

Very much on board with this idea either way.
