How exactly would it make the issue worse? Right now we have many players standing around at a placard, most of them running a keyboard macro, to try and secure the plot for hours on end. At least this way you can place your name down and go off and actually play the game. I fail to see any scenario where the lotto system would make the situation worse than it already is

Simple in the end someone can get the plot and evently you will get 1 but a loto system would screw everyone every single day.
so right now u might have a 1 in 50 chance if they used loto you would have a 1-9000 chance lol almost noone wins the loto in golden saucer for housing no..

and if they did add this id support the game being deleted permanently..

yea... no it wouldn't change the odds at all. You'd still have to go and put your name in at the available plot so you would have the same amount of characters entered into the lotto as it is now

I'm assuming though that more people would try to do that versus sitting at a placard all day until the timer runs out. Thus it would mean lower odds of winning.

Possibly yes, but they would still have to be checking to find an open plot within the timer. And either way this would not create more anger, this would lessen it. The only people I could even see getting more angry are the folks sitting at the Placards now and running a macro.

With all due respect, you cannot compare housing to the golden saucer, that's a designed lottery, designed specifically around minimizing the number of winners. A raffle system in housing wouldn't be bad at all, there's no inherent scarcity to uphold. You'd keep the current limits in place (lvl 50, 1 per character, ect), but rather than an arbitrary hidden timer you purchase a 'ticket' and then the gil is earmarked for 24-48 hours and then if you don't win, the gil is returned and you try again. Sure RNG is frustrating but so is standing around a placard for twelve hours alongside fifteen others as they spam a placard only for a random stranger walking buy to get the plot. Whilst other try to trade block you from buying the property. It stops people from actually being able to play the game they pay for.
