Why should I be denied a house because I dont want to stand there clicking a sign for what can be 24 hours. Also they are not just for rpers what are you even on about

and lol the whole housing system is for rp lol. its not for storage and unless its a free company house its not for crafting either. the sole purpose of it is rp

Sorry I have a job and responsibilities and dont have the time to sit on my butt clicking a sign for 24 hours. Youre right, I dont have my priories right and should quit so I have more time.

Wanting a house to decorate and garden doesnt make you an rper. Houses dont souly exist on the rp servers. Playing the sims isnt rping.

So let me get this straight. If you have a job, are in college, have a family to look after or have any other normal real life responsibilities that are very common to have...this automatically means you don't want housing enough because you don't have time to camp a plot all day, or you don't want to use your little free time doing nothing but stare at a placard?

So according to you the majority of the playerbase don't want housing enough.

DING DING DING! Found a player who doesn't know what the housing system gives you!

While you are correct that housing is a great asset for rp, they also grant actual game advantages as well.

There are crafting materials that can only be gotten from growing plants and the fc workshop. These can sell for a lot of gil.

You can get grade 3 fc buffs only if you have a house with a specific furnishing.

You can get a cp buff for your crafters by interacting with certain furnishings.

Houses are very convenient because you can have useful vendors, a materia melder, the fc chest, and the retainer and hairdresser bells in one room. Instead of having to run around a city or teleport to multiple places to get what you need. Having a house can save a lot of time and effort. Outside a mb is rarely far.

Fc houses in particular are excellent for nurturing a community because you have your own little corner of the game to meet and mingle, without the distraction and crowds of city hubs. This is great for any community whether they're casual, hardcore, rpers or a mix of all and more.

Probably more I have forgotten. Anyway I hope you can see now that houses have actual mechanics and useful things attached to them instead of just being rp hubs with no functionality.

It is not rping and I have things I have to do on days off, being an adult makes you have to do that. Making people have to spend their whole days off trying to get a chance to get a house is ludicrous and the arguments you're making to defend it are flimsy and make no sense.

You can't crossbreed in apartments though. And some of the stuff can only be acquired through crossbreeding. Add a way to do crossbreeding in apartments (as well as allow a section for outdoor furniture), then we can talk. And I believe on Balmung every apartment is also taken. Admittedly Balmung is the exception to the rule, but it's still a thing that happens due to apartments being finite too.

Housing is not just for RP. I like housing and I dislike RP. There's a hell of a lot more non-rpers than RPers that own houses. And apartments get 2 flowerpots. You can't crossbreed with 2 flowerpots. Houses get gardens, with up to 8 plants per garden. Its not comparable.

Instanced housing wards are the solution so that everyone can get their home!...


Hopefully Square Enix will find a way to thicken their noodle-game-code and make it possible to easily create a system that allows to expand housing wards automatically as they get full!...

Imo ofc instanced housing would be a better system and fix the root of the problem, however we still have no sign of that. I don’t think this kind of lottery system will work either, I agree with Penthea that it will be abused and no one will be happy. (Except those that’ll abuse it ofc)

I think what they should do is, you go to the placard then atomos appears and he puts you in an instance similar to the aquapolis or canal of uznair (with no mobs). If you succeed in reaching the end then congrats the housing plot is unlocked to you to buy for 1 hour. If you didnt buy it then atomos appears again for any other player attempting to buy the plot. In case u fail the instance, you can retry in 24hrs, in case others were not successful in winning that plot.
This way it doesn't depend on your money, or time, it’s just luck. Also the lock if you fail is account wide not by character, to avoid the same person trying with their many alts

At the end of the day it’s a very flawed system so these are just bandaid solutions

I have a better solution: restrict housing to FCs. If people want their own house they can get an apartment. FCs actually need the houses for airships, rooms and gardens. My group of over a dozen have been trying since maintenance ended to get a house and every time we find an open plot it gets stolen by someone relocating their house, or some script kiddie running a macro to target the placard.

This whole situation is ridiculous.
