Not in game macro's. Macro as in automated software like simple bots.

A lotto would be nice. More houses would also be nice, but considering that SE was apparently worried about expanding inventories because of strain in the servers while moving characters, I don't know how willing they would be to make entire new extra zones for houses beyond what they've already done.
So until more houses, I think a lotto would be good just to get rid of the timer issue while also keeping the house flippers at bay.

Lottery systems won't fix housing. Stop.So this whole random timer after demolition thing is ridiculous. I see why it was put into place ( in order to stop people from selling their houses directly) but there are so many better ways that this could be handled, and this is my suggestion:
- A house that has been recently demolished would be placed in an un-purchasable state for a set amount of time( Something like 48hours or so)
- While the house is un-purchasable, players may head to the plot and place their name in at the placard saying they are interested in the plot. Names will be recorded.
- When you are placed down as interested, money is taken from you and placed into a reserve pool.
- At the end of the un-purchasable period, names are lotteried off and the winner will get the plot.
- Money for those who did not win would be returned to them.
Like this post and comment if you like the idea, or throw some suggestions to improve upon this idea as well

A lottery would probably just end up in people cheating with bots getting the house - they have unlimited characters that they can easily level up and get tons of money on. Potentially, hardcore botters who do it to make money off selling gil could have multiple accounts or friends who do it with them making the 8 character limit per server a moot point.
Besides, lotteries are just RNG. People like to feel like they have SOME form of control over these things. If they put in the effort, they will get a house eventually. With an RNG lotto system it would probably take significantly longer unless they get really lucky.
I'd rather they just make apartments not total arse. Make it exactly like housing, with a small instanced yard. Problem solved.
「Life is such a fragile thing…」

Ideally Each paid account should be given a plot capable of having any size building placed on it. But since Yoshi seems to stalwartly refuse to give up this notion of neighborhoods where we all wave to each other over the hedge(which we never do and just end up with neighbors with 30 giant nazamu statues.) The Lotto system seem like a tolerable way to end placard shenanigans.
Not sure how Instanced housing can be so hard, EQ2 does it using entire freaking zones. You're given building blocks to make your own structures. Want an Island, OK. want a cavern? No probs. Want a amazonian cat girl temple with hot tubs and lala slave boys? Have at it!
My only disappointment with this game is that the housing which was marketed heavily did not stand up to all the hype.
For the folks that say housing is just for RP, no Many of us enjoy the creation and creativity of building and designing a home in game. There are entire communities based around it. Or were...

I don't think that the OP said that this is a permanent fix. It's just a suggestion for the housing timer fight problem. It's not perfect, but it is also a suggestion that is more believable that SE can implement, since any other real fix for the problem - better instanced housing/upgraded apartments, wards that fill themselves when full, etc, etc - has been ignored for years and probably will keep being ignored.

well even FFXI had the moghouses that no has 2 floors and a mog garden to garden with. Even before the mog garden you could grow more than 2 plants inside unlike the apartment in FFXIV.
I would be happy if they improved slightly on apartments giving us the option to purchase an additional floor or bigger apartment and increase the limit that an apartment can grow plants. Shoots make it the same prices as plots if you want to factor the cost.
Housing is such a disappointment in FFXIV overall. So many MMOs particularly MMOS older than than FFXI has housing been implemented way better.
