Yeah this is ridiculous, unless women are just baby factories, which is somehow even worse than just being rare. Plus the fact that there will be lots of inbreeding unless the females mate with a different male every time. Just ew. And they were weirded out by bunny bois??

This reminds me of the old Sailor Moon dub where they tried to hide Neptune and Uranus' relationship by making them cousins, failing to realize that, in many ways, made it worse...

The queen stuff can only apply to Helions as The Lost broke off from that lifestyle including any females associated with them and they value the freedom to travel that value shouldn't just be applied to males for going off and adventuring and that is why it rubs me the wrong way as its forcibly restricting them(same reason why i don't like male Viera lifestyle either)

That's what happens when the lore is written to excuse other decisions. I don't resent them for establishing that the other genders exist, but they're just making things needlessly complicated if not outright disturbing (see manickitty's post) by trying to give details. And even then, so long as they exist, there should be exceptions to these rules that we could run into, so even all these lore reasons end up feeling very hollow.

FemHroths are rare because of staggeringly low population?! Devs?! What in the Void are you thinking?! Do you not understand how bad that is?!

Why do you think there are very few examples of males outnumbering females in nature?! Do you not understand the connotations of this?!

Do you not understand that Pregnancy is the most traumatic experience that female mammals can endure?! And that making FemHroths so rare means that they'd have to constantly be pregnant in order to keep the numbers of the species up?!

And that system wouldn't work because of the health complications of pregnancy! Even in this modern age we are SEEING AN INCREASE OF DEATHS DUE TO PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS!!!

Why would any FemHroth want to perpetuate this cycle?! Why would they want to be constantly suffering for the sake of perpetuating a doomed species?! Not to mention because they must be constantly pregnant, this would create a society that would force them to be so, which would mean that there would be HIGH AMMOUNTS OF RAPE!!!

If I were a FemHroth I would get the hell out of that society, screw the race, screw babies, abd frankly, because of the risk of being dragged back there, kill every male Hroth I run into.

This us WAY MORE MESSED UP THAN MALE VIERA LORE!!

Well.. same could be said about male Viera you know...

They must survive to ensure their own tribe doesnt decease... I mean... Every bit of *ahem* is important. There's only an handful of males and way to many females. I wouldnt want to end up as inseminator for a whole group of females.

You realize the irony of having said that when your character is a male Miqo'te, yes? Have you heard of Seeker Nunhs?

That said, it's still more than doable, inbreeding be damned. A single male can knock up an entire village in, let's say a week. Then it doesn't matter if he dies the next day, the females are already pregnant and the race can continue. A female can't incubate the children of more than the one male at any given time, nor can she expand her number of pregnancies while she's already with a child. That's why, while still frustrating, lore stating males are the minority of a race can work. Flip it around an it doesn't, not half as much, at least not for mammals.

My suspense of disbelief works just fine when it's the laws unique to the fictional world I'm in. WoL? Primals? The First? Allagans? Dragons and Omega from outer space? Sure.
But I don't think they ever established biology and evolution work differently, which is why I can't accept this.

Short answer? No
Long answer? Very No. Mammalians cannot spontaneously (and by that I mean a gradual but sudden) change genders from male to female even psudologically, unlike some breeds of reptile, amphibian or fish.
