Because if any of their females ventures out and either decides to never return or is killed that is one less very very very rare queen to help the race stay alive.
Guess you could say i was hoping for a single clue that Eorzea had at least heard of Hrothgar in some way since the only ways to get from southern Islbard to Limsa/Gridania/Ul'dah is by foot(Ul'Dah since carriage is in Eastern Thanalan when attacked by Al'majaa/Gridania) or by boat to Thavnir then another boat to Eorzea(Limsa). Foot way requires to go through imperial occupied territory, Boat through more neutral means but both seem so odd for no one ever in Eorzea to have heard of Hrothgar(atm) and i think if you came across a Hrothgar who could speak the common tongue it would stick in your mind.

The queen stuff can only apply to Helions as The Lost broke off from that lifestyle including any females associated with them and they value the freedom to travel that value shouldn't just be applied to males for going off and adventuring and that is why it rubs me the wrong way as its forcibly restricting them(same reason why i don't like male Viera lifestyle either)
