Did they not recycle models from FFXI and polish them up a bit? I think they might have taken some from FFXIII too. And I could have sworn I read somewhere they took Fran's model from FFXII or at least the remastered version.

It's still a ton of work involved when you take a pre-existing mesh and 3D model from one game and then try incorporating it into another. The meshes have to be updated, the skeleton might need changed, the animations may need tweaking, the textures might need updating, the games run on completely different engines.

It's still not as simple as clicking Ctrl + C and then Ctrl + V. Taking resources from one game and putting it in another does not work that way.

Yes they literally can just copy paste something from another game they have access too and have done

Probably only reason why we have viera because they could ignore 50% of the work modeling and just use fran from ff12 remake

Also alot of the hair is ripped from that ff type zero game

That exists in FFXIV? You can't simply just copy and paste models from other games and expect it to work in FFXIV.

I didnt know things have to exist before they get implemented into the game. Looks like whole Au Ra race was born by YoshiP, magically.

Which are just semantics, so no I didn't prove any point of hers. No one believes that they have the said genders behind lock and key and if they do they should be corrected for that stance. If you go through the 220+ pages of the Viera thread you'll find that most people are aware of the fact that they have to create said genders. The issue right now is that people are in a deadlock stare on the word Genderlock and would rather argue the semantics of the word as though it somehow dismisses peoples wishes for said Genders to be available.

If I was on your side, I would still make the same argument. I would be upset that people agreeing with me are presenting their arguments/support for more gender options in a way that dismisses how hard the dev have to work and how long it would actually take. to quote the OP:

like they don't already know? they need reminded? Imagine coming into work and reading that message when your dev team has been discussing this idea at length for the last year or so and had to make the hard decision knowing there was going to be divisive feedback.

Please SE, just make an official response soon. It's getting quite annoying to have to wait so much for you to say that we will get genderlock lifted

this dismisses literally everyone in the dev team who fought for having 2 separate races with 1 gender each to meet customer expectations of having viera and beastly cats. OP also just assumes the genders will be released no matter what...

Love it how so many peopel who don't want male viera and female hrotgar are being extremely toxic while the ppl who actually want it aren't.
Anyways, seems that everyone made like 7 repleisin this forums saying aww no we dotn need genderlock removal, yet my OP post which lots of u seem to sepise si the most liked one.

We actually dont know what the devs have. Not saying they do, but rather that we dont know what the devs have. So it's somewhat of a moot argument to say they dont have models. Far as I know, we dont know that.



This point also means that any lore outside of FFXIV can be discredited when it comes to male viera. So if we just focus on what lore there is, there isnt much to go on. Makes it real easy to introduce them into the game.

They didn't have the funds to develop them.... so you are saying that they lied about that.... and are just sitting on the assets they made with the money they said they didn't have, and are just sitting on the models to spite people?

Really.... Because when the devs say "We didn't make this". We cannot reasonably say "we don't know what the devs have"
