You're totally right! Everyone so clearly loves the gender-locked races. You can clearly tell that most of the post and comments on the fanfest are positive and really excited. Oh and healer mains are really excited to hopefully get a healer in two more years!

    .. But seriously. .

If you're the type of person that needs actual data on if "people are happy with the new gender-locked races" then ya got me, there is no official poll where we can view that. And you are right again, the forums are a small portion of the player base. However, you're acting like the people on the forums are the only ones upset. Their was disappoint across all areas of FFXIV. Twitch chat, Subreddit, Youtube comment section, Tumblr blogs, discords, etc.

So, while i cant speak for the majority, neither can you. All we can do is go off what we see from different outlets. And from where im standing I see much more people upset then i do happy. Maybe they should start making polls for future expansions, maybe then they wouldn't be in this situation again.

Well said "THEY NEED IT" you have to ask yourself and them why they need male viera to be that feminine perhaps there is plausible motive behind such need and ♪♫♪♫It's bigger than us, It's bigger than you and me, It's bigger than us, It's bigger than everything we see ♪♫♪♫

Never called or attacked the director by any name other than "director" so not sure what do you mean.

What did mention before is that is important players have their concerns and motives heard and meant justified requests not less relevant requests.

While I would have preferred Dancer to be a Healer -- or better yet, for the game to allow for actual Hybrids -- choosing where a job fits best is hardly a matter of favoritism. Heck, the only reason to think there'd be any bias one way or the other there is because they specifically said they didn't want to repeat the community-perceived issue of adding only DPS in a given expansion. But even then, if they don't create any Healer despite those comments it will have less to do with favoritism than simply a limit to imagination: they couldn't make it fit as well as they'd have liked, and had to draw back to something else.

That leaves a plethora of issues -- even worse ones, perhaps -- but favoritism is unlikely to be one of them.

Aside: I would have swapped to male Viera if that were an option and followed in keeping with its concept art. Depending on how the female Ronso-equivalents would have come out... they could have been up there, too, though. I'm just salty that the female Viera look basic as hell and our other locked race looks... pretty derpy, to me.

I wish Blizzard would make WOW decent again, so all the former WOW players here can take their entitled, toxic selfcentered self back to Azeroth. I quit WOW years ago mainly as that game community became more and more unfriendly, and I feel XIV community is becoming the same as I saw in WOW :/

We do get quality content. The 12.99 is mainly for the server costs. There is also a big difference being entitled than putting out requests for something you want to see implemented. If you can be entitled to have something in XIV for your 12.99, then I can spend my 12.99 demanding to remove that if I dont like your idea
I rather wanna play a game that developers make for me, than I get everything I ask for cause that would be boring and predicable as I already know what is ahead of me.

I just play, enjoy myself and have hopes for something I want, and will ofc be a bit sad if it doesnt happen, but I will not let it detract from my overall experience. As I have learned the hard way that you cant get everything you want in life, even in a virtual life.

Yes, there has been a LOT of negativity, but at the end of the day, the Forums exist for a reason, so we have a right to express our opinions and provide feedback. You may be happy with everything that was announced, and that is good for you, but that is obviously because what was announced appealed to you, for some of us, it doesn't.

Now don't get me wrong, I am happy with some stuff too, and am not going to say that I am completely disappointed. I will probably still play a Viera, regardless of the backlash for the lack of males, and even as a healer main, I am excited to try out Dancer as it looks to be a fun job with a good aesthetic. However, that doesn't mean that I find other people who don't like this to be unable to express their opinion - as I am still very upset and annoyed at the lack of healer, as well as the reasons given for its lack of inclusion.

If you don't want to see people's opinions, positive or negative, then perhaps the forums aren't the place for you?

That's not entirely true. Monthly subscription models always more than cover the cost of both the servers and the core development team; pricing would never be entirely dependent upon expansions for profitability. Since our monthly fees are covering the rather large permanent development team for XIV, which means it is reasonable to request that we get the level of content such a team should be capable of generating.

In some ways we do, but in some ways we don't. The team is good at generating certain types of content, but they're absolutely terrible at other things. It's stunning that we still have such a broken housing system, that Glamours are still so cumbersome to collect and apply, that Diadem keeps getting released with only minor adjustments despite repeated community backlash. I agree that people aren't 'entitled' to a better level of effort from the development team, but it's understandable that people are going to get angry over a perceived lack of effort. If that perceived lack of effort is hitting an area of the game that's of key importance to them, it's also understandable that they'll feel more like the sky is falling.

My boyfriend, for example, mains White Mage, and occupies the rest of his time primarily with crafting, gathering, and the Relic chase. He's been particularly disenchanted with Stormblood, because (a) crafting / gathering end-game was pretty much on auto-pilot, and (b) Eureka was a hot mess in his estimation. He's partly optimistic for Shadowbringers (the new DoH / DoL end-game is interesting to him), he's upset by the lack of new Healer variety, and worried about another Eureka that isn't at all solo friendly. If cards fall the wrong way, he'll certainly cancel his subscription - and it's because the shoddier development work will be concentrated in areas of the game that are important to him, that are key to his enjoyment of XIV.

Everyone's different, in other words. I'm glad you're able to find enjoyment in XIV, and I'm glad that for you, the overall experience feels good. But there are are a number of areas in the game that are objectively shoddy work, and if those areas are important to someone, they are likely to be a little less relaxed.

Well part of what made WoW basically flush itself down the toilet was Blizzard catering to the noisy players crying over things. Basically they got what they asked for and didn't want to stew in it.

One of the issues is that the noisy complainers usually assume they're a majority on something because they are noisy and the people that are either content or just don't care aren't on here like they are blowing up forums with posts.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Japanese playerbase are completely and utterly ambivalent. In fact, only on English speaking forums does this seem to be blowing up.

You don't speak for the majority of players and even if you did, SE do well not to bow to your whim and continue to design their game in their way. As has been noted, WOW and other MMOs went into serious decline the second they started compromising on their ideals, and stretching themselves too thin, in a vain attempt to try to give the noisy players "what they want".
