Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

Yes please to both male Viera and female Hrothgar, gender locks are an archaic game design that has no business in this MMO.

I've seen them around on multiple worlds. They're not overly common, but they're around. I see the bunny ears a ton, the full outfit is... well, less so.

Popping in to add my +1 for male Viera/female Hrothgar. The lore shouldn't come over players' enjoyment, not when we already have stuff like a Nier raid, a car mount, rathalos, yokai watch stuff, all implemented or coming soon, that prove lore can be bent for the sake of fun! We got Miqo'te male, Roegadyn female, and Highlander female in 2.0, please consider removing the gender lock on these new races in the future, too.

I have been hyped for male viera since it was confirmed they were coming to FFXIV.
I was here back in 1.0 with gender gated miqo'te and roegadyn, it was sad and boring and I was so happy when it was fixed. There are some many wonderful male miqo'te and female roegadyn now!

I understand the devs are on a time crunch but I believe going back on the statement that they would not gender lock a race again is a mistake. I would have happily waited longer for Viera if both genders could be released at once.
But the beautiful thing about MMOs is that they're always having things added.

I don't mind waiting so long as the devs can assure us that the other genders will be coming eventually

There's only supposed to be one WoL anyway and nothing that implies they can't be from some rare tribe. Gameplay has to be suspended from lore or nothing makes any sense, the lore reason is a lazy cop-out, even female vieras running around breaks the supposed lore.

From what I've seen on twitter they enjoyed the bulk of the keynote but aren't keen on genderlocked races. Even seeing Korean players are upset about the locks (one artist I follow is lamenting that they don't speak english enough to post on the forums but have linked the big Gender Locked Race? thread for others to post), which is pretty interesting considering how gender locks frequently appear in KMMOs.

A Korean artist I recently followed also expressed this view, actually. Jo Cheol-hong?
