Considering the backlash is even greater than the genderlocked bunny suits I would have a hard time believing they would never respond to the criticism. We might have to wait until 5.4 or 6.0 or however long, but I think we will eventually get male viera. It's best to stay positive about it considering they've listened to fans before, as frustrating as it is that they would falter back to this regressive attitude AGAIN.

Part of me knew going in that we wouldn't be seeing male viera, but an even larger part couldn't accept that until I actually saw it.
It was unbelievable to think they could miss the mark this badly, and so deliberately too. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. It's a bad design, development, and business decision all around, not to mention a huge disservice to the players and a betrayal of trust.
I can't understand this decision.
If they had gone this route I would have preferred that they made them a "genderless" race and androgynous by design. That way players could make their bunnies male or female or however they like.
Either way I doubt making them 100% female race as you suggest would quell requests for male versions. Certainly not for me.

..and that is what i meant when i said it was short sided to do so in the previous thread... This was always going to be the result of of gender locking any race. The demand will always be there to undo this kind of thing and rightly so.
Male Viera were expected Hrothgar in every form was not asked for, by introducing both in such limited capacities they have only redoubled their work load having to fix an issue where there needed be none.

Yes, please implement male viera when it is feasible to do so. I was nearly holding my breath from the Paris Fanfest to the keynote today, dreading and hoping... I am disappointed by this choice to reinforce an unfortunately limited lens through which to interpret masculinity and femininity. FFXIV is groundbreaking in many ways, offering challenging stories and thoughtful and nuanced treatment of many difficult topics, as well as laudable egalitarianism in certain respects. It's not perfect, but it is valuable nevertheless. This announcement felt like a step in a very wrong direction. Please amend this.
(P.S. I also feel that it would also be most balanced to also offer a Hrothgar female model that is equally as bestial in appearance and powerful in build as their male counterparts.)
