Please do something about Roll Trolls

SE please make an announcement because somehow it is not clear enough in your ToS. Greifing by way of not rolling on loot until the last seconds is not allowed.

The Idea behind this sort of greifing is that players will become frustrated and leave the instance thus no longer being eligible for the loot thereby reducing the amount of competing loot rolls against the greifer. Thereby forcing players to stand around for several minutes waiting after their legitimate roll for their loot.

I think the benefit (allows people to come back from disconnects) outweighs the bad. Just step away from your pc for 5 minutes, it'll be okay.

Oh yes, that's exactly what we need. More rules and punishments. Nope, i'm against it. It's just like what - 5min or so? ok, maybe they can shorten it to 3min, but that's about it.

If they give you 5 minutes to roll, you've got 5 minutes to roll.

I'm pretty sure the timer is in place because rolling on loot during any point of the timer is allowed.
If they made an announcement that rolling during the last seconds of the timer is not allowed I'd have to wonder why they don't just cut the timer short.
It's what, 4 minutes? I often have to wait for the timer to run out because someone doesn't roll, especially in alliance raids, and the few minutes of standing around are not the end of the world.

Hey, look at that. It was right there in the OP all along.

Personally, I'd like to see them reduce the roll timer to 3 minutes, but I can't even remember the last time I encountered this, so I don't care that much.

Yes it is. It is not griefing, it’s using the allotted time where attention may be warrented elsewhere.

You get offended way too easily if you get frustrated from standing around for a few minutes at the end of an instance.

How do you suggest SE take action against it anyway? How could they tell players were intentionally trolling? Are you automatically a troll because you don't decide if you want to roll for something in a few seconds? A few days ago I didn't roll right away because I wasn't sure if I had an orchestrion roll or not. I couldn't find the blasted name in the list for two minutes. Am I troll?

The timer is there so long episodes of trolling are impossible. Go tab out and watch a youtube video, browse on your phone, go to the toilet...just do something instead of huffing and puffing because you made the assumption people are automatically going out of their way to waste your time. Even if they are it's only a few minutes after something is finished.

    Jeez.

Let's clear some fallacies up. First, waiting until the last 10 seconds to roll on loot is not against the ToS nor is it griefing. The game gives you 5 minutes to decide on your roll, and however much it may look like trolling or griefing, it really isn't.

We can debate all day about whether players should or should not be allowed to do it, but it is completely within the rules and mechanics of the system.

Players do this because (sometimes) other players leave when it's clear there are others who will wait through most of the timer before rolling. I've been in groups where players waited almost the entire timer, and I'd say about half the time I saw it, players who rolled left, instead of waiting; or they simply passed on all items (save for what they really want), which concludes the rolls for those items, and thus narrows the number of players you're rolling against for what they're withholding a roll on.

It's a practice that is certainly a grey area, in my opinion, but I've seen it be effective too many times.
