As an add on, there to the archer thing - they're lancers as well that spend most of their time prowling in the wood leaping from tree to tree. And onto the lore that they're basically terminators once they clock onto someone who's hurt their wood. I don't imagine a race that is 'skinnier' than an Elezen. Though they really should have a more in-depth muscle/weight/height scale - all of the races should.

Regarding au ra and highlander males:



I'd recommend zooming in. The difference is fairly slight, and you can flip them around for the leg view to offset the differing poses, but I don't really see how one would be bara and the other not.

There are tons of LALA who can weild all manor of heavy weaponry and win in battle.

How is it "head canon", precisely, when jobs/classes and magical equipment and materia do just this and are far from inaccessible to a high ranking Flames member (we know this from the crafting job quests)? I don't grasp the logic here.

There's scarcely "tons" of lalafell fitting into what you describe.

Also on the topic of Omega M, his physique is pretty much the same as a midlander's.

Ignoring some ingenious designs with pulleys and levers (crossbows included) Archery, especially high power long range shots, takes an incredibly high amount of strength (actually you can combine the pulleys to boost the draw weight up a massive amount to make an insanely strong shot, but then you're asking to break something of your own body on each firing).

The media has tried to make archery appear as the "woman's" weapon in a lot of stuff which is why I think archery is usually seen as low strength, especially when you see movies where they hold full draw for minutes at a time... but that's all smoke and mirrors. To be clear I'm not saying women can't use bows just the media (stereotypical vision you see) painted it as a sort of weapon for those who "can't stick it in the fray", which probably just insults everyone including the bows lol.

i mean, how skinny do you want them? With how the Viera males are being portrayed if you're looking for something that's 'skinnier' than a elezen then doubtful. If you mean something like 'Omega M' which to me didn't look skinny at all, he seems rather 'toned' - but you can have a muscular/lithe toned individual.

Do you want something like WoL 'moebius' 'lithe' - which is similar to male hyur - or are we skirting towards the dangerously slim? Which is possible, but I imagine the male Viera would have a vast 'muscular scale' due to how the lore has them.

First of all he cute.

Personally I would like alphies body type but a little taller and cute faces that are more young adult.
however i would be ok with a more lithe yet strong body as well.. but with smaller arms.
I tend to enjoy playing the underdog type character who doesn't look like they will win but overcome it.. Just not lala.

this is what i imagine a viera from when i read its lore: athletic, fast, silent, not too heavy build (a mix between hyur and au ra kind of)



i know, lore doesnt have to follow allways logic, but i just can't wrap my head around, thinking vieras to be "soft, small, slender, androgynous"
they live in harsh conditions, which just wouldn't allow such body traits if you ask me :S

Indeed, that is how I think they would be added if the devs opted to - maybe with some modifications but definitely along those lines, between a hyur (or elezen) and au ra.

Weren't archers shoulder/arm bones typically thicker because of the amount of draw strength needed for long bows? I always imagine archers were pretty top heavily strong. Though I guess bard sets a weird precedent? buuut bards are less bowmen and more bowperformers right?

So I suppose the idea I should say is "less bulky" since it seems the idea of a more gender-neutral body shape is so vehemently shot down at any sort of opportunity.

Ideally I would like something like Alphinaud, but given the low probability of that happening, I'd settle for a middle ground.

And while Archery does require a lot of upper body strength, I have two friends that are both fairly muscular with total opposite body types. One is around 6'2" and probably weighs in the 220s(he can deadlift around 300 lbs) and the other is about... I wanna say around 5'7"ish. Like slightly below averge and he's rather thin under his musculature. I've seen the skinny one handle things better than the big guy. They arm wrestled one time and it wasn't an obvious win for andre the giant. I mean he still won, but it took a fair bit of effort on his part.

There's also plenty of skinny guys out there that are still pretty ripped. A small frame doesn't translate into 100% weaker muscles. They're just proportionately smaller.

There is no actual lore saying LALA need magical weapons or equipment to weild greataxes.
ALSO VIERA are an old race that lives long. Why wouldnt they have access to magical equipment as well.

My only point is using the the setting of where they come from to describe their physical appearance is silly.
If that were the case FEMALE Miqote would be much larger like female lions but they are not. THEY CUTE.
