What is this "customization out the rear" you speak of?

Certainly isn't in the character creation. There are more hairstyles than anything else, but whatever the new one is is the one you'll see the most anyways.

Not just character creation but even glamour opens up the field for it too. Maybe it's not "out of the rear" but you can't tell me there's a small dip of it.

I hope that in the future they make the decision to include male Viera and female Hrothgar in the game. I understand the devs were all on a time crunch with the new expansion coming out and that in the future they will be opening more customization. I hope they make the decision to remove the gender lock on these two races and have some less buff, more slender male characters as well as some buff, awesome female ones. Until then we have two new races which is very cool, but I'm not personally happy with any content being locked behind a gender. This is my two cents hoping the devs reconsider the gender locks in future patches or expansions.

Adding my voice to the general cry for male Viera and female Hrothgar. Creating a hypersexualized female race and a hypermasculine male race does not look good. It's 2019. We can have male bunnies and female strong cats. It's okay. The world is ready, and your fandom is literally begging here.

If only it were that simple.... but even earlier in this thread there was disagreement about what the male Viera should look like. People will still be unhappy with the final execution if it's not the male viera they imagined in their heads.

I think people aren't seen the big picture here. People have been pestering the devs about Viera and a beastly looking race for years, and now they finally deliver, and as always people aren't happy.

They wanted to add more variety to the game by adding 2 different races than just one. The whole gender locked thing is more an issue of time constraint than them not wanting to add the gender counterparts. Yoshi P. even said something really interesting in the keynote: "They won't be adding new races in the future expansions" which means that they will need to add something good on next expansions for people to actually buy them, so they will save the gender counter parts for either the next expansion, or the next big patch.

Instead of going mad and doing crusades all over the forums, try to be patient, I'm sure the bunny boys will come in the future. They are just saving them as new content for future expansions. This expansion was the turn of female Viera and Male Hrothar (or whatever they are called).

I wish I could believe this; I really do. I don't wish to get my hopes up until there is some sort of confirmation. Lack of confirmation last time resulted in this hype and the let down that came with it.

That could be true....but why?
Why would they add 2 incomplete races in 1 expansion just so they can complete it in the next as opposed to just add 1 complete race in each.
They're just throwing themselves at the wolves for no reason.

Q: Why were you so insistent on adding a beast-like race, the Hrothgar?

A: The great thing about MMORPGs is that people from around the world with different values and tastes can all come together and play. FF games have good-looking men and women, but FFX is an example of a stronger look. Guin Saga may be a better example, but at any rate, since we're creating a fantasy, I want to shine a spotlight on that aspect as well. Even if we added another handsome race, it felt like the only real difference would be the ear shape. Back when we showed off a basic sketch of a wolfman, a lot of players around the world voiced their desire for a wolf race in 4.0. At our current patch rate, with that much equipment data being released, and adding a new race multiplying the amount of work required, we could probably only add one more race with our current workflow. We agonized over which race to add, and ended up with what you see now, and the lion T-shirt I'm wearing now *laughs*
