That's not really a horror story. The wipe was your own fault for starting the fight without waiting for the tank. Before and after you had a smooth run with nothing to complain about, so I don't really see the problem.Went as AST into Roto-Tak. The run went smooth between the pulls... Until the boss room.
The boss pulled the group inside the arena and aggroed the DPS. Well, the tank got this. But... WHERE THE HELL ARE THE TANK!!! He was watching CG. I pulled the boss and tanked much as much as I could (as AST, mind you and I didn't lost aggro even once), but the tank only came back after me and the SMN died. We wiped, obviously.
After that, we managed to clear the dungeon.

The boss doesn't pull until somone walks to the ledge. Since it obviously wasn't the tank, it was someone else, is impatient healer or damage. This happened to me too on my first run of the place, except I was a healer. I was watching the CS while the rest of the group tried and died. Lesson of the story, check no one is in CS if you're a tank, and if you're not tank, DONT pull.Went as AST into Roto-Tak. The run went smooth between the pulls... Until the boss room.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

We were doing The Minstrel's Ballad: Ultima's Bane. Third attempt. 1-2 minutes into the fight, the DPS started to despair of life, which would explain their suicidal disregard for boss AOE. The tanks were consistently at 10-20% health and orbs were a burstin'! It turned into a horror show when people decided to "man up" and run into orbs to stop them from meeting in the middle... while these same people were at 25% health.
Healers just said "screw it" and let the DPS remain dead and just focused on rezzing the tanks, who would be resurrected with a sliver of health and die again 5 seconds later.
I was healing my ass off, rezzing dead healers (who died because nobody was keeping aggro off them) and healing up tanks so that they could survive long enough to use mitigation. Of course, I was soon at zero mp myself but I figured that pretending that people didn't desperately need healing was a worse strategy than letting my dps plummet. Amazingly, we made it through!
P.S. I'm a Summoner.
P.P.S. I did not get even 1 commendation.

Did O10 last night for fun and WT. When the my co-healer died for the fourth time (how? normal only has like three mechanics) I just left him to rot and solo healed the rest of the fight.

Well, it wasn't me who jumped first, but I was pulled together. Tried to save the run and tanked the boss for over 2 minutes, more than enough time for the tank to watch the cutscene and take aggro from me. Or so I tought until I began to be hit harder.
And wasn't me. I swear. I just stopped behind the tank, as I normally do and was planning on waiting for him to finish the CG.The boss doesn't pull until somone walks to the ledge. Aurum Vale and Castrum Abania are not hard at all. They are just as easy as other dungeons. I don't know why people complain about it, but the only time I don't find those duties to be fun and enjoyable is when nobody knows the mechanics and still rushes in like headless chickens, despite my effort as a healer trying to explain thing. Worse, they blame the healer for not keeping them alive.
HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO HEAL THEN? TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON ME WHEN SOMEONE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHEN OR WHERE TO EAT FRUIT, OR WHICH CIRCLES TO GET INTO (light, fire, ice). OH THAT'S RIGHT, THEY DON'T EVEN BOTHER LISTENING TO EXPLANATION FIRST, SO HOW IS THIS MY FAULT?

My problem is most tanks don't warn before they big pull and I'd just really like to know if I need to pull out the stops.
Please tanks, tell me if you're big pulling.
And healers, please respond if i'm tanking and asking you if big pulls are okay ;u;

As long as you know what you're doing, I'll keep you alive through big pulls.
Well, at least I'm trying...
Aurum Vale and Castrum Abania are harder than other (leveling) dungeons. Leveling in general gets harder the higher the dungeon. That is 'cause gear gets outdated quickly, and most players don't equip new (HQ) gear every level - and you can't blame them, that would be quite expensive. But add that up to 4 people!
i.g. Sastasha and the first few leveling dungeons, new players wear the brand-new equipment from Hall of the Novice - which is on same or higher item level as the dungeon itself. Now compare that to Aurum Vale: that dungeon syncs you down to level 49 (you are missing strong lvl 50 skills/traits), and newcomers will most likely NOT have their lvl 50 job equipment yet.
Most people will most likely be undergeared for this dungeon; if it's the tank, their defense will be low; if it's the healer, they will spend more time healing than dps'ing; if DPS are poorly equiped, mobs will live longer which increases the burden of tank and healer.
Mind that the first room in Aurum Vale is also very tricky. A newcomer tank might just run in and pull half the room unintentionally, or someone gets pulled by a toad. It's different from previous dungeons.
Castrum Abania is the last dungeon before or when reaching level 70. It's the highest leveling dungeon, thus the difference between recommended and actual item level is quite big, and that is the reason why it's harder. Up to this dungeon being overgeared carried bad performance; now imagine a party being undergeared and having bad performance.
Also, you barely see level 70 jobs with 290+ equipment here 'cause they finished leveling. On the other hand, you'll see (snyced to) lvl 60 jobs in the Great Gubal Library with highest possible gear.

Ill-prepared groups (be it dated gear or no clue about mechanics or no practice). Well, up to now I call everything easy whenever run with my guild mates who have the experience to cover errors...with randoms though it becomes a gamble that´s sometimes lost - I´ve met many great ones too though.
Try healing people with no clue if you yourself have not much clue yet. That´s why it is called hard, not the dungeon/trial/raid objectively but the subjective experience with it.
Kudos to you for explaining mechanics to new players, I haven´t met many players in duty finder like you yet.
