Healer Horror Stories: Redux

Can't seem to find the old thread anywhere so figured there'd be no harm having another fun thread in-between the serious topics, especially after the day that was yesterday...

-- Two days ago I suffered one of my very few group-kicks in an EXP-Roul, all because I used Holy. We had a geared PLD, two AoE DPS and a WHM (me) waiting and ready to pull the trigger, so everything was going OK - until they pulled the second pack in Fractal (you know, Minotaurs & Chimera). I was doing my usual Holy spamming when one of the Minotaurs got off an AoE Swipe, which prompted the MNK to complain. He was the only one who had to walk out of the circle seeing as Holy obviously prevents stuns being a viable option when spammed, so he lost about 2 seconds of personal DPS, and this seemed to make him bitter. He mentioned stun-immunity and pointed out that "This is what happens when you spam your stupid Holy", to which I pointed out how unnecessarily pedantic that is due to the clear-speed - but it turns out they must have all been friends because that is where my run was prematurely ended, so I signed up and got an instant-pop with (thankfully) nicer people.

-- I typically boot up a stream on the fly when I'm about to have a roulette session for anyone passing viewers with interest, so there's typically a small unplanned audience of passers-by (very few) - one of which popped in during a Void Ark (ARaid Roul) who went on a flame-fest: "I hate healers like you, throwing stone and forcing the other Healer to do all the work" (I won't include the vulgar profanity spouted along the way). Bear in mind that during these comments, nobody was even taking damage - you know how it goes with low-end raids in roulette. I found it all the more amusing considering the Skalla I did just before it (which they obviously missed), involved me tanking on WAR, with two poorly geared DPS who were quite low on kill-speed, complimented by a classic AFK Healer who would stand there looking at me and do little else other than the occasional Benefic when I got to 90% - so being called a fa**** for doing something other than that on my own Healer just reminded me of how absurd it all is and how nobody can ever do right by everyone.

I'm about to go on another session. Would be nice to have some other horror stories in here to read up on when done. So, what got your Healing goat this week?

On the Fractal HM one: I've had people gripe about Holy in there before, and other dungeons too. Never been kicked for it, and I don't bother to stop spamming it if they complain. I'd bet at least the MNK was probably parsing. Its his fault for not dodging anyway, positionals or not.

I am playing healers for more than 10 years in various games but i am fresh in FFXIV and will be learning it for some time. I still am sprout

I was running my daily rulette 50/60 on Monday. Amdapor Keep popped.Tank started sprinting ahead. He was picking one group after another. When he stopped he had several groups on him (6 or 7) and few started attacking DPS.

We all died and after respawn chat was:

Me:?
Tank:Why you didnt keep us alive.
Me: It was to big pull for me.

(I can manage to heal tank with double or even triplepull but this was simply to much for me)

Usually i would expect something like: Okay i will pull less / It wasnt that big but you did .... wrong and it will be better doing ...

But no it was : Enjoy your little pulls. Im off.

We got new tank and finished dung with ease (just one death - tank fell over the edge from Demon Wall push)

I meet toxic people here and there but they allways make my day darker.

If they were, I doubt they would have complained about Holy spam...

I've never been kicked for DPSing (especially on WHM), but there have been a few times where the tank will begin pulling ridiculous quantities of enemies in an effort to force me to heal more. Oh well. If the Dragoon has to die so that I can use Holy, I'll /Pray for them. I'm kidding. It was a Ninja.

There will always be toxic people online in any game. Those are factors we cant control. What we can control is how we respond to the toxicity. I always respond with the kill it with kindness and hit them with humanity. If they keep being toxic, just keep on keepin on. When I tank, I always at beginning ask the healer if they want big pulls or play it safe. I understand we are a team and I will adjust our flow based on what everyone is comfortable with doing. I know I can hold aggro and dont mind popping cooldowns to help mitigate the mp spent to keep me alive.

By far, this game has the best community I have experienced in an mmo. All the positive experiences definitely outweigh the negative.

I have had some toxic people say hurtful things sometimes when I tank, I just try my best and keep learning and remember all the good.

Some have to say it : MNK can stun through stun immunity. It's one thing they got from SB. That guy could have been a MVP, and he choose to be salty.

It's not like most DPS, or even tanks for that matter, even bother stunning. So many times, while on my RDM, I'm watching a cast bar that could be stunned for more DPS uptime on the melee/tank parts complete because nobody stuns it.

They don't, indeed. Except that Monk. And what Vyriah says is that if he wanted that attack to be stunned so much, he could have done it even after the holy spam.

But I could also understand the monk didn't. I wouldn't be surprised if he removed that skill from his hotbar.
