Aurum Vale is a real "Tank test".I am an AST beginner (level 53), I was never a healer before so I still struggle with it, but less with time, I really love this job.
I was on duty roulette, and I got AURUME VALE. Oh my god I wanted to cry, but the party didn't wipe, it was a miracle because the people who where in the party didn't care about poison and eating the fruits. I think it's the last time I do this dunjon because I can't stand this level of stress.
Don't hesitate to explain when to eat the fruit.
And let them die if they don't make any efforts at all.
It's the usual way of healer's teaching : get good or you will suffer, sorry not sorry.

My plan was to explain after the wipe (I didn't know they wouldn't eat any fruits) but it didn't happen ahah

I've had that run before, even after seeing first time bonus and saying eat fruits. I also told them to stun for for the giant swing, but instead 3 standing inside range and just me as healer outside with no stun from melee dps or tank. I also found out like someone else said you can get 9 stacks on the last boss as I had all the aggro from adds, which I ate fruit right away for and was able to live. I'm not sure how we cleared at all.
The worst, the party was talking to each other the whole time and ignoring the healer! I finally had to let the dps die on last boss, dps myself and keep the tank healed as I had no MP left for all the needed raises.

I have couple tales from Aurum Vale, though only one of them horror quality and even that has a sort of happy ending. The first was when a friend of mine was healing as WHM sideclass, he was usually BLM. He's struggling to heal even some of the normal pulls, over halfway he asks me "Is there any better heal than Cure?" "Well, Cure 2..." "I thought you only use it when it procs" *facepalm* Yeah, getting it cast free is nice but...
The second was me levelling SCH so my equipment, synced down such as it was from 60+, was max level for the place. First room went ok, but on first boss I had real hard time keeping the tank up, it felt like she was wearing a cheese. After couple wipes I wondered if it's me, after all I'm not as good with SCH than WHM and the tank was heavily insinuating I have no idea how to do my job, not in the most polite terms. I looked up her equipment and all was on 30-range. Asked her just to humor me and tell me her iLvl. She went quiet for bit and then apologised "My bad, guess I chain levelled without realising, I can leave." We did soldier through the first boss but she left after the first wipe in coin counter.

A week ago i was running the new dungeon (grymlith dark? I cant write that Name...). Usually he is Tank and I'm the healer but he wanted to go as sam. I went as ast so we had a better q time.
We got a pld and a blm so i thought "yay aoe power!".
The blm was new to the dungeon, the tank wasnt but...oh boi he pulled like that. 1 pack at a time. In sword oath the whole time. No problem we just need to watch our emnity bar and i need to heal a little more active since he will get a bit more dmg.
The dungeon was long but went smooth. Then we came to the last boss.
The pld told me: dont heal me, you aggro!
I was like: okay maybe he wants to heal himself so i dont need to watch my emnity. ... okay i can do that.
So i only healed him a little but then he was standing in a few aoes and his hp went to 2k. I healed him but he still used hg and then was like: lol heal. Do your Job i need to use hg. Pay attention. Lol.
Wtf?! I shouldnt heal him but..i should heal him? He wouldnt have died even if he didnt use hg. And ofc i grabbed aggro after that... and oh noe. He had to use hg. He was talking like its forbidden to use it in a dungeon...
Idk.. he kept talking about how we would've cleared it much better with a better healer and...yeah...
Mhm. Mhm.

Not really a horror story per say, but I was leveling up my AST and in the random queue popped Stone Vigil. "No problem," thought I "did it before. Just need to stay on my toes." So tank engages and as I'm tossing out my DoT, her (female character, not sure sex of player) HP takes a massive hit. "Dafuq?" Thinks I, but I heal through it...barely. The next couple of pulls were the same. Tank dies and we almost wipe, then we DO wipe on the third or fourth pull. I spam heals from then on, wondering what was going on. Found out right before Chudo-Yudo. Tank curses, we ask what's wrong. Tank mentioned Defiance wasn't up.
And here I thought I was just a bad inexperienced healer...>.>

Got something similar in Bardam's Mettle today with SCH. I used all my aether current for Lustrate, Excogitation, spamming Physick and Embrace when tank only pulled 2 to 3 mobs. I check his gears, they were around 27X ilevel. He wasn't even on shield oath. The damage could eat through my shielding+Excogitation before he used Flash.
Got another one on The Aery with similar situation, 2 group of mobs and no oath. Died even with spamming Lustrate and complained about I wasn't healing him.

Went into a Byakko farm group around last night who wanted a solo heal, dps were all casters and the DRK was just constantly derping out when it came to sweep the leg. Granted I had enough mana shifts to make up for constant shielding....and raises from avoidable damage...
It didn't work out with a single clear because of either poor output during the transition from phase 1 to 1.5 (the falling phase), someone (one time me, another time the dps or tank) misplacing the vortexes, or people taking all the avoidable damage in the world or being unlucky that the tanks didn't take a ground slam since it was a no stacking party, including random people getting hit by the orbs for stacks of vulnerability.
TL;DR, party disbanded and I was out about 40k on repairs alone with nothing gained from what should've been an easy clear.
Well, at least I'm trying...

Went as AST into Roto-Tak. The run went smooth between the pulls... Until the boss room.
The boss pulled the group inside the arena and aggroed the DPS. Well, the tank got this. But... WHERE THE HELL ARE THE TANK!!! He was watching CG. I pulled the boss and tanked much as much as I could (as AST, mind you and I didn't lost aggro even once), but the tank only came back after me and the SMN died. We wiped, obviously.
After that, we managed to clear the dungeon.

This is exactly how I feel at times. It´s easy to blame the healer because - obviously - you die when your HP gets to 0. I slowly come to understand why there are so few healers - stupid responsibility, got enough of that in RL. I´m an average healer I suppose, focused and enthusiastic but a bit slowpoke. I only ever died more than 1 time at 2 bosses so far. Oh and - well - the party only wipes when I die first...But before that starts becoming less murky put healing can be very stressful as you wonder if you are to blame every time there is a wipe.
#1 At the Vault endboss most co-players were too slow at dodging mechanics, I was too slow with healing them all back up and we frequently wiped. My healing preference was tank>healer>DPS. Because losing even one party member is usually a wipe (my free company leader - usually a tank - is always The Last Man Standing and Winning, seriously no comparison haha). After the 3rd wipe my nerves got frazzled and I lost focus and messed up the mechanics myself - got blamed in the end for being a bad healer, blamed myself and left the party. Then people kept telling me how easy it is and how it was a healer check. Seriously-worst-FF14-experience-so-far (to my ego).
#2 At Aurum Vale DPS kept eating the fruit I stood next to in preparation . It still worked out somehow.
