But the greater fact remains that the timing has been known for a long while now, and I choose not to dredge up much sympathy for anyone that thought waiting until the last minute was a good idea. But I'm a heartless bastard.

I mean, sure, it sucks that extra maintenance will be cutting into the event, but things like that are exactly why you don't put something off, eh? If they never make concessions for anything else that gets interrupted by emergency maintenance, I wouldn't hold my breath to see an exception here.

I agree that it's unlikely that the event will be extended but I still think it should be if possible given the nature of it, that the main day for it is so poorly timed and how that is no fault of the players. For the event to mess up on the main day of it is a really bad experience for the players. Especially when it's gone the next day and maintenance will be cutting into what little time is left. This is bad planning by SE, not the players.

I think it's a bit silly for a couple to be upset about this instead of using Valentine's Day for doing...anything else other than being on an MMO and putting serious stock into a short Valentine's Day event.

Are you somehow unaware that some couples meet in the game? And sometimes a considerable amount of time passes before they can live together? Should they be criticised for doing a Valentine's Day event together, in the game where they met, on Valentine's Day? While the event is short it is special to a lot of couples who met in the game.

I met my boyfriend in this game. We live together now and we still did the event together on the 14th anyway.

Given SE's track record, I would not be holding my breath to do the event until the last minute. On paper, yes, the event should end after the actual day but in practice...nah, not with SE.

I agree that the maintenance was poorly scheduled.

I expect many people who enjoy playing the game together may have planned to do the event on the special event day.

I would be disappointed if they scheduled maintenance on other seasonal event days like Halloween as well.

You can blame the players, but it seems much nicer to let everyone enjoy the event on the event holiday date and also to not wipe out some of the last hours of an event.

I seem to recall that another seasonal event was actually cut short as maintenance overlapped the event end time. When that happens it is frustrating because the posted schedule is no llonger accurate.
