I applaud what is obviously SE's first step in a long while to take action against toxicity in the community. I am sure they are also about to send their C&D to FFLogs, if they have not done so already. Only after the source is extinguished may we hope to move forward.

This kinds of practice will never go right on the internet.
If they shut down the site, the other one will be created and probably much more violent allowing to auto-blacklist players and harassing them on the site itself. It is what actually happening with other competition based games.

FFlogs are at least neutral and does not allow to do that, but mind me if they will delete it and someone mad will make a second one which allows users to do all the toxic stuff.

Yes! We will finally move onto making our secret parsing society just like I always imagined. We'll finally wear the cultist robes I've been working in secret and we'll have secret handshakes and emotes. Sure, the lack of orgies and sacrificial rituals will be sorely missed but the mysterious cloak-and-dagger atmosphere we'll create will make up for it.


Unless we're on Balmung, then we can have our throbbing ERP sessions as we secretly parse.

I really don't think fflogs is going anywhere. It's strictly data that isn't, or rather CAN'T, harass or disparage anyone. And the fflogs site itself doesn't actually interact with the game in any way. It reads logs uploaded from a third party tool that it actually does not own or distribute, basically making it a 3rd party of a 3rd party, or a 4th party, if you will. The site by itself does not violate anything in the new ToS revisions, and I doubt they would come down on something that's not actually harming or disparaging anyone itself.

Yes people will beat me again for pointing that out, but because FF Logs is a 3rd Party of a third party, makes it even worse, since you would need by laws a contract with each party in the chain.

This is one of Foxclon's statements today regarding the changes to the ToS. To me, it clearly reads that they indeed have noticed these streamers using illegal tools, and are firing a warning shot before things get nasty.

Don't cherry pick statements and try to spin them around to suit your foolhardy attempts at an argument.

As of some of you may already know, we recently announced a revision to our service policies on the Lodestone. We recommend that everyone read the changes, as they are extremely important.

■Regarding the Revision of the Prohibited Activities and Account Penalty Policy ( NA / EU )

I understand that some of you may feel like account penalties have become much harsher compared to the previous policies, due to changes like the suspension period being extended for certain penalties.

Under the previous policies, some issues were difficult to address due to them being on the cusp, such as actions that were “Negative, but not severe enough to take action.” Additionally, we felt that the 3-day suspension did not have the desired inhibiting effect for some of the more severe issues. Therefore, we decided that a change was necessary. We held numerous discussions internally and ultimately landed on these changes.

We are striving to create a comfortable environment for our players, so that, if they do experience a negative incident, we are able to assist them as much as possible (and, if necessary, get involved in the situation). Please understand that these changes were necessary in order for us to achieve that goal.

On a side note, we have been noticing an increase in issues involving social media, video sites, and live stream channels. Please take this opportunity to go over the FINAL FANTASY® XIV User Agreement and be more mindful of others.
Overall, these policy changes are some of the largest adjustments we have made since the commencement of service, and we will continue to explore ways to provide a better environment for the community. Feel free to let us know if there are certain topics you would like us to improve upon.

No where in the guidelines does it say they're going after streamers. People like you, those who don't read the full disclosures and jump to their own conclusions, causing massive drama and paranoia for no reason at all other than for kicks and giggles are truly the most toxic towards this community. Keep in mind, we can report you all for calling us elitist and selfish now as discrimination and harassment for a playstyle.

What you think are policies meant to help you, are really double-edge swords that can come bite you in the butt.

Even if that claim was true, it's still far more red tape than what's necessary. Rules against harassment on performance is more than enough to deter poor behavior about it, there's no need to punish an entire community of raiders that haven't done anything wrong. And like others have said, even if FFlogs did disappear, something else that does the same thing would just take its place. You can't stop people from parsing, there's no way to even prove that someone is using a parser the first place if they don't say so.
