I'm of the opinion if someone says my damage is low that it's not harassment, and more like feedback or advice (depending how it's given) There are people who may misuse them, but its really not that common,also why punish people who use parsers that don't harass people?

I am not aware of how widespread this issue is, because it's not something I've really experienced personally. But if it is a problem, wouldn't it be better for SE to issue a statement against the use of this site for harassing other players? And announce that their GM's will take complaints in this regard seriously? There is already a "report for harassment" option. Go after the players doing the harassing, rather than the tool they're using to harass them. Because people will still be able to harass you without the tools, they other means of finding out if your DPS is not meeting their standards. They may point to your iLevel, they may observe your rotations, they may well be the other DPS and decided that they're not the problem, so it must be you. It doesn't take much to read how another player is doing, as one who tends to main healer, if it looks like the healing is down when I'm not a healer or I have a co-healer, I'll observe them and if they seem to need help, then I can offer help.

They do. If you were to tell someone in your party that their DPS is low and harass them about it you'll get banned. The main issue that most of those complaining about it have is that they think their numbers are their own private data and think that their privacy is being violated when the site posts the numbers publicly. But what they fail to understand is that these numbers are not their own and never was in the first place, since SE owns all the data.

Since the creation of this thread, FFLogs has actually begun using several FFXIV art assets not included in this fan kit. Several boss images and other art cropped from in-game. As far as I can tell the legal liability remains and my point still stands.

....And what about all of the Youtubers and Twitch users that use the logo or job icons in their videos? Shall we start marking them for copyright infringement? Shall we start marking down the people who make fan-made bracelets, fan-art, physical items, etc?

Please, you don't know anything about the legal laws of copyright infringement or a creative commons license, and you should stop speaking about it until you do.

I’m assuming a lot of people will disagree with this thread but yea I’m not a fan. Like partly I don’t care like you want to post stuff on there fine. It just creeps me out that people post stuff about other people on there (their logs). Idk does that not creep other people out? I haven’t looked on it ever. I’m sure I’m on their someplace but who knows.

Like even if I did use the site and parse stuff I still wouldn’t post other people’s stuff. I just have a lvl of common respect for fellow humans that it’s not my place to post data about others without their consent.

On the flip side I haven’t encountered much issues personally in pugs (I’m not the most hardcore of raiders). If a pf mentions fflogs I just don’t join, for 2 reasons: I don’t want the drama, and it usually goes south cause people care more about their dps then mechnics, and then drama happens then people get upset then everyone performs worse overall.

You know whats actually creepy? People that waste even a thought about that stuff and come up with something like "respect for others". This is not the players data never has and never will. People need to learn that ASAP and people also need to stop to act like somone published their freaking nudes or something...

Yes! We will finally move onto making our secret parsing society just like I always imagined. We'll finally wear the cultist robes I've been working in secret and we'll have secret handshakes and emotes. Sure, the lack of orgies and sacrificial rituals will be sorely missed but the mysterious cloak-and-dagger atmosphere we'll create will make up for it.

SE, please stop letting your players make threads about things until they fully understand what they're talking about. Especially, when Yoshi himself watches world first raiders race and have ACT overlays BLATANTLY in the game screen.

On a side note, we have been noticing an increase in issues involving social media, video sites, and live stream channels. Please take this opportunity to go over the FINAL FANTASY® XIV User Agreement and be more mindful of others.

This is one of Foxclon's statements today regarding the changes to the ToS. To me, it clearly reads that they indeed have noticed these streamers using illegal tools, and are firing a warning shot before things get nasty.

I really don't think fflogs is going anywhere. It's strictly data that isn't, or rather CAN'T, harass or disparage anyone. And the fflogs site itself doesn't actually interact with the game in any way. It reads logs uploaded from a third party tool that it actually does not own or distribute, basically making it a 3rd party of a 3rd party, or a 4th party, if you will. The site by itself does not violate anything in the new ToS revisions, and I doubt they would come down on something that's not actually harming or disparaging anyone itself.
