Light forbid they fork over the 35,357gil for the Aetheryte that's commercially available at any marketboard to remain neutral.

My prediction is that she's going to be received with tears and amazement and gratitude, she'll spend most of her time uttering cryptic nonsense and fluttering about "the mother", she'll get into at least one terrible scrape (because she's innocent and vulnerable) that people get hurt/worse to rescue her from - and in the end she'll either "make another sacrifice" with a martyr-like countenance, or someone (Thancred) will try to sacrifice themselves for her as if it were worth losing a seasoned fighter over a 6 year old we constantly have to spend resources to protect for no good reason.
Hahahahaha! I love reading all that salt because I... find it extremely accurate. It echoes my own thoughts. I didn't want Minfilia back, even less as a precious creature (again) that we must (more than ever) protect.
I guess I should just give her another chance and see how it goes, but my own bias against her is making it difficult -laughs-

Looking forward to hearing Sawashiro Miyuki's voice in the game again.

Young-looking Minfilia is, so far, the most exciting thing about the expansion for me. I hope they don't just throw her back into her original body too early on.

She was boring in 2.0 and they attempted to make her more active in HW but that's about it. I really don't get where people are getting all these Mary Sue type suppositions or understand the seething hatred especially considering the main character is the true Chosen Hero forever and ever which I would expect more complaints about. Every character is a plot device if you boil them down to their purest form anyway but people don't see that when it comes to their personal favorites.

We don't need a voice, only to act and solve all the world's issues through our might alone.

If our character is weaken then the plot some how place the reason being caused by someone else being "not prepared" or take our place in sacrificing their life for our own mistakes. WoL is not allowed to be seen as weak nor helpless because if that is known to the public then their "Hero/Heroine" will no longer be that ideal being they all picture the WoL to be. The being that can resolve the impossible no matter how impossible things appear.

That in it self is also a burden WoL must carry because everyone that knows WoL or heard tales of WoL see him or her as the impossible that beats the impossible and due to this WoL is often thrown into the impossible and some how manage to get out unharmed. Forget politics and sitting down on the table to talk things out, WoL just need to be sent in and beat the living crap out of everyone who are considered Evil and the story ends with one big happy ending.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that finds her face to be somewhat unsettling. And it's not even the glowing eyes, just that stare.

You are comparing the housing feature to the main plot of the game.

Some design choices are made for the immersion and others for gameplay purposes. The lack of an aetheryte to get directly to the Waking Sands is from the first category...
... Which is why they added a boat to travel directly to that place from Limsa Lominsa, in order to fill in the need of a gameplay alternative.

But for some reason people tend to forget that boat exists.

With the additional loading times from travelling via Limsa, and especially once you have the travel speed boost, I find it's just as quick (and less fiddly) to warp directly to Horizon and ride there. I timed it once, and only had a few seconds' difference.

You warp to Limsa, warp or run to the ferry terminal, talk to the ticket seller, arrive in Vesper Bay, walk to the Waking Sands.

Or you warp to Horizon, get on your mount of choice, and ride a very direct path straight to the Sands. It seems like less effort. Less steps involved.

It depends almost only on your loading time, since most of the difference with a direct Aetheryte would be one loading screen to Limsa, which I admit can take a while on slower devices.

Edit: Another point to consider is that back in ARR, mount speed increase was not a thing until later on, and the player still needed to complete the Praetorium, and get some hunt seals. So the boat was definitly relevant when people were doing the MSQ back in the days. Or even today when you create a new character.
