Can we get her killed with the trust system?

She's an eye candy. Hopefully she won't be a brain-killer though. But she went too far with photoshoping her photo...yup, yup...
Seriously though, Minfillia was really an "eye candy" from the get-go in 2.0. She had the misfortune of the developers misusing her though. With no frickin' idea of how to develop MMO's over the years, they made all the worst mistakes they could with her character development, making her early incarnation a really, really irksome being.
But I hope that they have learned more about what to do and what not to do with MMO characters by now. I expect her to actually be more "mature" and less of a "leech" towards the main character...even though she'll be the damsel in distress. But hey, 'damsel in distress' can be very well done. Technically the runt from Dark Knights story was that, yet she was quite a decent secondary character.

Don't worry, they'll kill her off again...then we'll find out later she faked the entire thing. She's an eye candy. Hopefully she won't be a brain-killer though. But she went too far with photoshoping her photo...yup, yup...

Seeing her name there in the title makes me realise: Ward. Protection. How long have we known her full name for?
It's been suggested elsewhere that the desolate landscape the WoL is in resembles Mor Dhona.
And actually, after a lot of puzzling over it from the first trailer, I'm fairly sure that Thancred and Minfilia are in Limsa. The doorway and lamps visible in one of the shots, and the architecture in general, seem to be a close match to what can be found in the city. Certainly far closer than anywhere else I could find.
If so, then the shot of them running up stairs with a blue light behind them could potentially be at the lighthouse in Limsa's harbour.
It would also fit with his "this town has changed" remark, because it's actually where he lived prior to being recruited by Louisoix.
One of my all-time favourite NPCs happens to be a light-aspected damsel in distress!
Specifically the PS2 game ICO, which is effectively one big escort mission with a mysterious 'child of light' and a whole lot of shadow-demons out to get her... it's short (5-10 hours) but excellent, and it made me care about her so much by the end.
Between the Amano artwork and the 'Thancred and Minfilia' section of the trailer, it's definitely reminding me of that game and Shadow of the Colossus, which was by the same creators.

The return of the "return to walking sands so I can speak to you something I could at linkpearl"-type missions.
Looking foward for it.
Linkperl-Talk is not encoded. I think they mentioned in some of the latest story that linkperl calls can be intercepted and detected.
This. All the developers needed to do. Don't know why they still won't add an Aetheryte there.

For myself Minfillia was never annoying to me so I 100% do not understand the intense hate for her but the one thing I do hate is what I agreed on from above. Its just like how we didn't have an aetheryte in Sapphire Avenue(?) in Ul'dah for the longest time until recent years. Not Minfillia'a fault the developers never thought to try sticking an aetheryte in Vesper Bay. Personally, the blame should go to the developers for not using their head on that one and also getting Minfillia out in the field more as one other person said.

They explained it in the MSQ right before we moved to the Rising Stones in Moar Donuts.This. All the developers needed to do. Don't know why they still won't add an Aetheryte there.

It was because of pressure from the Syndicate in Ul'Dah, and affinity for one nation above the others when we had to remain neutral. They refused to place an Aetheryte there unless the Scions would favor them, or something. I can't remember how they worded it, but they basically wanted the Scions under their thumb.
