Certainly won't play them perfectly and probably won't be entirely comfortable (initially), but they'd know what needs to be done and typically how to do it, given time to figure out which buttons actually do what you want.
This. I tend to bind abilities in similar positions with similar effects. My Flash bind is the same for Unleash and Overpower. My combos are all basically the same keys for all jobs. Even my defensives line up on similar slots. Shift-6 is Hallowed/Holmgang/Living Dead. There are some exceptions, 2 is Shelltron/Inner Beast/Darkside. Darkside doesn't seem to fit, but it makes sense to my brain.

Having similar binds as you adjust to a new job and planning out space ahead of time while leveling helps so much when learning.

Just got Dun Scaith while playing AST today, it was a totally hell from the beginning to the end.
No one seemed to watch or read any guide, ran like hell when healer trying to AoE heal.

    1st First boss
Giant ice crystal? Must avoid or sure death!
Green pushy circle? let's ignore it.
Red pulling circle of death? Why bother.
Doom? It looks cool, let's run like hell so healer can't esuna it away.

    3rd boss
Marker with huge AoE on me? Let's run toward healer.
    Adds? What adds?

    4th boss
Healer let share these giant ball of death.
Center meteor? OT? Nah, let healer take it alone.
"Healer why you don't want to LB when only 3 dps down?"

I feel better letting this out now.

This one is rather amusing story that happen tonight. Did Crystal tower in the roulette got one of those co-healers who likes to dps the whole time..like not even bother to heal themselves. So seeing this I let them die and they get the message to heal and not dps the whole time. What makes this amusing is the TANK in my group, who touts in chat that my co-healer would not let them die LOL. Well the tank died quite a few times due too them failing mechanics at one point they even APPOLOGIZED to my co-healer for the fact that they died *Face palm* I honestly consider kicking the other healer but I just couldnt bring myself to do it with how our tank was up in their grill

So I'm running Rabanasty for tokens when I notice the MT is dropping health fast to the point that I have to step in and dump three Lustrates to keep him up. Of course he doesn't have grit on and is dipping fast and hard. So I say in alliance for him to put grit on if he's gonna MT. Of course I get a plethora of "if he's go aggro who cares?" and he just typed "no"

So since he clearly has everything in hand and his healers clearly weren't struggling to keep him up I focused on my team and dps.

    He promptly died.

This has been one hell of a raid tier. Wish I'd just taken the time off. Aside from the pressure to switch to AST being turned up to 11... Well, where do I even begin.

Been called healing cancer for bringing WHM into FO. Had a bard cuss me out for not healing the party during Archive All, complete with screenshot of the party at 40%ish health. Except... it was *after* Optimized Fire 3 hit. Yep, totally my fault for the deaths there buddy... And, of course, all the usual "I'm going to stand out of medica range and then complain about not getting heals" memes.

And the neverending "my attacks would be hitting for xyz damage more if I had balance". Yeah, yeah. eff off -.- Well. Wish I didn't have commitments so I could flux off myself till 5.0.

So I get Arum Vale. I do my usual joke of "abandon all hope ye who enter here" Things go as expected. tank is always near death I'm running out of mana. The kicker is that I got a rdm who was liability the whole dungeon. They ignored mechanics, died a lot, and never gave me mana. We manage to pull through and at the end right before I leave the red mage says and I quote.

"Healer get good" Infuriated I tried to reply but they blocked me. Probably for the best in all honesty. Best not to pursue any further contact. Still it's extremely agravating when someone talks junk unprovoked despite you doing your best to maintain a positive dungeon.

I was Farming suzaku ex with my sch and an ast joined. in nocturnal. and he stayed in nocturnal. He never bothered with shields (ofc! we just would've overwritten ourselfes everytime) and when i said: djurnal pls? He was like:lol... just for one run!

why? I didn't get it. why stay in shield stance If you cant and wont Put shields Up? why....
Well... He WAS a good healer...but it was kinda frustrating...

There's a video of Momo Sama (famous SCH) beating O9S with a Noct Ast.
Basically, you trade the Regen for higher potency heal (the healing potency is higher by 5% in Nocturnal). So when you are a GOOD healer and you work fine with your co-heal, you can actually go with Noct/SCH.
If you don't Crit, their single target shields are better most of the time. Some fights don't have a lot of raid damage, and Suzaku is a good example, so a few shields are enough, otherwise basic Helios / SCH fairy Regen, Earthly Star are just enough.
Noct AST is also a way to avoid overhealing when you put on a regen and the co heal tops up the team regardless.

If he was good and no one died of insufficient healing, there you go ;D

My horror story is a bit different, and there's not really a villain there. It involves me as a marauder and a random healer astrologer in that level 24 dungeon. I naturally didn't have defiance and wasn't using much of that AoE nor throwing skill even though I should had. On top of that I was somewhat undergeared for my level, especially my weapon. But I had managed to tank dungeons that far just fine.

That dungeon though, the astrologer didn't do much dps or anything and I wasn't taking much damage, but somehow he was almost on my aggro level and a few times even more than that. The dps had no chance to pull aggro from me though. But yeah, on the last boss, the big diremite, the astrologer grabbed both boss and add aggro at some point even though I was using my CDs, and despite my efforts he died. All I could say was "sorry" which I did, cus I had failed him as tank. He didn't show salt.

After that I contemplated it and learned to use the proper skills and got myself geared up and never lost aggro again, except to another tank.

Rats are fierce, intelligent, social, emotional, cuddly and have a sense of humor. That why it's an honor to carry the name of Rat.

Horror stories seem to be cropping up more and more.

Been working on leveling Rdm, so thankfully i have Vercure now, but prior to, there was nothing i could do to help.

Got an Aurum Vale, healer wiped us 4 times before the first boss.
Think about that for a minute. Its 1 room. First Frog pull, 1 frog, 2 jellyfish, healer simply doesn't heal the tank, and we wipe.
2 more times hugging the left wall, healer doesn't heal the tank and we wipe.
Last one before the boss was again, the healer not keeping the tank alive.

Get to the boss, i ask if they are new to healing, they response "yes" so i offer some basic suggestions. Keep regen on the tank, Eat the Fruit when you get 2 stacks. 2 AoE Dots later the tank dies and we wipe shortly after.

Try 2, i say again, keep regen on everyone to counter the poison, and eat the fruit when you get 2 stacks of the debuff after it does room wise AoE.
We get it down to about 50% when the healer just stands in the middle of the room, mashing regen with 3 stacks and dies, never touching a fruit.

We voke kick, the tank leaves, and the Blm and i stand there speechless.
Thankfully got a competent tank, and had my brother queue on healer and got in, so rest of the run went smooth. But there have been many other occurances of healers just now knowing how to heal, at all.

I feel like bashing my head on the wall sometimes with this. Its not a hard concept, heal the person loosing health...
