First off, it was already stated that it never would, by both directors. The very idea of world pk'ing would entirely ruin any and all PVE style content currently in the game. Final Fantasy XIV, like XI, will continue to have big world NM's that drop loot all the way through its entire life time. They have said time and time again they plan to continue to introduce content like this, as well as instanced dungeon type areas. Now, any time you're doing world PvE, a rival LS could show up and massacre you and steal the NM. This is the entire basis of the reason as to why both directors flat out said there will be no world pk'ing in FFXIV. They said they wish to foster the idea that its the players against the world, not the players against each other. It's a united people battling a larger, more powerful threat. Welcome to FInal Fantasy games.
Lets not forget the worst part of PVP in any game though... The nerf fests. One job excels slightly more than another in a pvp game? Bam, its good skills are nerfed, and its now only marginally effective in PvE because people whined about the job being OP in PvP situations. Then it happens to the next best class, and never ends. Its a constant stream of nerfs. Look at WoW, it has never stopped happening since they released arenas.
