After reading Dragorath's post, I think I've lost a bit of respect for Square Enix if they truly run things the way they do. And to everyone looking down on the OP with your condescending, holier-than-thou attitudes, you are some awful people and should be ashamed of yourselves. I made a forum account to present some ideas I had for this game, but after everything I've seen and read in this thread, I don't think I wanna be a part this environment. Dragorath, thank you for sharing your experiences with us and shedding some light on their BS moderation practices. Hope_For_Change, I'm truly sorry for what you're going through. I myself am on a 216 hour ban, my first ban, the very severe one, and am dreading the permaban hammer. But after reading Dragorath's post, I'm suddenly not all to worried about it anymore. And even if I don't get banned, I'll have to permanently hide the chat window. People say some provoking stuff, and some people find even breathing to be offensive.

So Hope_For_Change, keep fighting the good fight and I hope everything turns out well for you.

You got a 216 hour suspension / ban as your very first one? You must have done something to deserve that harsh of a penalty.

If they're harassing you, report them. If they're doing something wrong, report them. Otherwise, ignore their provocation.

Pretty much. No one is perfect. I have been provoked before and lost my patience but never said anything that warranted a ban. Sometimes it isn't what you say, it's how you say it. Thankfully that doesn't happen very often as I have grown pretty thick skin. If people are being jerks, ignore them. Plain and simple. SE isn't perfect either...they make mistakes. But overall their system works as intended. 9 times out of 10 if someone receives a suspension or ban they probably deserve it.

The person you’re agreeing with was condescending and very much holier-than-thou. Funny how you choose to defend the very behavior you are condemning others for. I’m not obligated to take something at face value that sounds far-fetched; all we have is that person’s word, which, this is the Internet. You can’t believe everything you read here.
Plus, there are other reasons why I am not inclined to agree with him. I’m not going to bring them up here, though, because that will just further derail the thread.

To get a 216-hour ban on your first offense, you have to have done something fairly serious. There are known botters and RMT middle-men on my server that haven’t received any such action, despite blatantly breaking the ToS and getting reported by a myriad of people, including myself.

You’re free to no longer post here, but people on here generally don’t respond well to players that ask for special exclusions/exemptions/exceptions “because Reasons”. Especially when they respond with “woe is me” replies.

Take responsibility for your actions.
If you want a change so bad, start with yourself.
Chances are, if you’re getting repeated warnings and bans, the problem doesn’t lie with the disciplinary system.

SE is the one that makes the rules. If its against the rules to be rude or toxic and you still do it, its your own fault and not SEs. We could discuss if some rules are a bit harsh and maybe if some of the punishment for minor things should be taken away after a certain time of being well behaved but everything else makes sense. This is a online game which means that a huge amount of different people play it. You will always have those in it that are just jerks. And those will be punished with that so that other people can play mostly in peace. Of course you will always have those horrible ones that still manage to play the game and you might have the few cases of people that are well mannered ones but just lost their cool in an argument..but for that you have warnings and short bans. If you got your account completely banned you are either doing something again and again (which seems to be the OPs case) or you have done something really bad like pure cheating on the game.

People have a hard time believing the full story of the OP because its only one sided and because for most of the time the GMS do judge fair and dont just hand out bans like that so often. So it does create the feeling that maybe the behavior is worse than its written. Also just because they see it as unfair does not mean that others have to see it that way too and wanting to change rules just because they cant controll their emotions is just bad imo.

Mental illness should not be used to push SE into a certain position. Its on each of us to judge if we can savely play a multiplayer game within the rules of the game. And if someone cant then either they have to stop or change. Of course changing is not easy but why should SE do something? Where would it stop? How bad would this be for the community if rude people are not fearing perma bans anymore?

And I am sorry but 216 hours of ban sounds like something way more than minor. And if you did some huge rule breaking then its your own fault.

If you're on a 216 hour ban, pretty sure you're the problem and not the other way around. You're lamenting and insinuating that others should be ashamed of ourselves. Well, we aren't the ones with a 216 hour ban, now are we? Perhaps some self-reflection is in order for yourself, and maybe drop the condescending, holier than thou attitude too since you're on the naughty list this year.
