For personal thoughts and theories, I agree.

But for gauging the feelings of a majority of people on the forum, then surely that's exactly where upvotes are useful?

I wasn't saying it "because it would get me upvotes", but because others might be thinking the same thing and could then upvote rather than writing another post saying the same thing.

This thread has over two thousand views and 60+ replies. 5 vs 12 upvotes doesn't actually show anything other than most forumites didn't leave likes. (For instance, I forgot to give a like to the OP, even though I liked the idea. I have since corrected the oversight, so now its 6.) Not that your views of Theodric being more or less popular than his idea to start a discord actually matters b/c the discord still exists either way.

But yeah, server is up and its fun so far. Look forward to seeing those who want to be there, there.

For what it's worth, every page checked by every user every time they check in, reply, or view a new post seems to cause that thing to tick upwards. I suspect that I alone am responsible for over 100 views on every one of my posts, lol. Forum regulars + lurkers might not take long to hit 2k at all.
