This game has maybe one or two more expansions left after Shadowbringers.
There's only so many jobs they can add, not all of them are going to make the cut.
They also have a certain roadmap of jobs and roles they need to add, so many tanks, so many melee, etc. They're going to fill gaps before they add extras so there's a fair role distribution for raiding.
We currently have too many casters, for a typical raid party that has 2 tanks, 2 healers, 2 melee, 1 ranged and 1 caster slot, thats 3 jobs fighting for 1 position, compared to 2 fighting for every other position. (Presuming the new jobs are tank and healer)
The roles currently in need of new jobs are tank, healer, maiming, scouting and physical ranged.

My point is we wouldnt have hot Blue Mage as a caster job anyway, mot until at least 7.0 at any rate.
Would you be prepared to wait that long?
Or is something better than nothing?

There's also the case of whether the job itself fits into the role system, which has already been argued to death, and everyone's firmly on one side of the debate or the other. No matter which side you're on, its clear which side SE is on.
So for the jobs that dont fit the role system and dont fit their job roadmap, would you rather we never get those jobs, or that we get them as limited jobs that serve as side content that could well be better than Eureka and more futureproof due to needing updates?

That only works under the assumption that people unsub if a given piece of content isn't of their liking. Pretty sure people unsubbing over the existence of Eureka in itself is pretty minimal.
There are options for how blue mage could work in 14 but they didn't go that route. How could they make jobs that can use almost any piece of equipment and learn most magic work outside a strictly solo design?
How would they make a job that usually had to hunt down their abilities (instead of being given to them in a silver platter aka job quests) and whose abilities are 100% equal to the monster version (remember, it's not lvl 5 death that more ineffective than the monster version, it's the monsters that are resistant/immune to it. Same with Bad Breath, along others)? By making it like BLU will be currently.
Yes, there are options for BLU. This is one of them, no less valid than others.

This design is less valid though because of the restrictions.

Not many on my side are saying the learning method should be change. There are some that say to just make the abilities come from job quests or "core spells" come from job quests and then have the learning mechanic. Most of us don't care how it happens. We care about having access to a job that uses enemy abilities in current content. The spells probably have level requirements to learn them. We don't know for sure but I think that's a reasonable assumption. So there could be achievements for learning all spells within a level range like "Learn the level 21-25 spells" and then that unlocks matchmaking for those levels. Could also have level break quests like how XI did. So every 5 levels, you're unable to level more as blu until you've completed the job quest. Then have the job quest require that you know certain spells. The npcs wouldn't even have to tell you which spells they are. "Hmm, you still need to study leafkin in the northshroud, the insects in central thanalan, and the crustaceans in lower la noscea" would work.

The death spell should function like the eureka version does except for enemies that are well below your own level.

As for bad breath and how the job could work I'll direct you the thread I started that has my concept. I would have preferred blu tank but it would probably be easier now to work blu into being a melee or leave it as a caster.

I think what could be great with the system is that it could give alternative versions of existing jobs or advanced versions. For example White Mage into Devout, Summoner into Evoker, Scholar into Sage, Red Mage into Red Warrior, Black Mage to Black Wizard, Monk into Master, Machinist into something fun to play again (maybe puppet master with a gun) and so on.

It'd help solve the great summoner debate too, we could have a summoner that meets people's expectations of summoner and not affect those who like the existing summoner.

    But for non existing jobs.

    Puppet master
    Beast Master
Chemist (mixing potions in battle for a variety of effects)

Sniper Chemist; the good doctor will heal you from afar! .....Waaaaay over theeeeeerrrrrre! *Waves from atop the highest mountain in Eorzea*

Seriously, if BLU succeeds then I wouldn't mind have a sniper Chemist be a limited job class. That and Magitek Knight so I could have all the little gimmicks related to said class.

The only good reason for limited jobs to exist, is for patches like 4.5, to test them out, give your feedback and remove this nonsense about "limited" job.

    For Limited Jobs:

-Beastmaster [Make a sort of like Blue Mage where instead of collecting spells, you Tame Beasts and have them fight by your side] Maybe have like 30 Tamable Enemies and once you actually tame them, you can call them forth with Jugs.

-Puppetmaster [Make it have a wide array of Puppet Parts to sort of customize your Puppet in whatever way you see fit]
Have 3 Base, Tank / Magical DPS / DPS / Healer, and allow the Puppetmaster to make whatever combination they see fit.

But as far as "Limited" Goes, I just hope they convert this "Limited" into a "Mode" where you can call forth on "Trusts" and just get improved EXP while killing enemies the old fashioned way to level up, and just roaming the world that way; at whatever pace the player sort of sees fit.

But we'll see what the future of Limited jobs is as soon as they introduce the new jobs for the expansion: if they add 3 jobs, 2 Regular, 1 other Limited, we can sort of see what the future holds

    Agree with others.

Beastmaster and Puppetmaster are shoe-ins for a limited job.
