To Darkstarpoet1, links please...never read anything like that
well ya CPU and GPU conflicts can completely bottleneck and drag any system down and really for this game you are lookin at spending 900$s to play on a more mid range system than my crappy yet gets the job done 320$ system. Ya mine runs the game great but like others are stating low performance systems are not capable of running the quest Cut scenes. My cut scenes lag horrbily lol. Sometimes they play all the way thru sometimes its like watching streaming video in 1996 lol.
Your system is not really outdated per say but your probably better off spending around 900$s gettin a new PC than a better CPU/GPUmotherboard and video card.
People really need to just shop around because many online retailers have outrageous sales and often some truly good deals. try Ibuypower.com Cyberpower.com Newegg.com Tigerdirect.com and look hard and compare. try to Avoid the rebate sales tho cus they dont like to pay u the money back lol.

Keith Dragoon - Ambassador of Artz and Adorable
CPU speed has the most direct influence on benchmark(Narrow the scope of the following questions to FFXIV ONLY - if you can)
Why is CPU important?
Why is GPU important?
Why is RAM important?
Why is HDD important?
MB is second on how this matters
RAM more is better if its fast and Unganged
MMO use rapid access, faster HDD or better yet SDD is *vital* faster SSD is prolly most important above CPU speed
btw: NEVER format a SSD, trust me...if you do, throw it away and get a new one because you cannot undo the damage...Windows 7 does't need to see a formatted SSD...optimally just plug and play...Windows 7 sees SSD as RAM...you don't format RAM do you?

Keyboard: Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (Sucks hardcore... can't wait to get a good gaming keyboard)
Anywho, that's what I got. Lookin' forward to uppin' the ram to 12 GB+, then new graphics cards, a new keyboard, then maybe a new processor down the road.
This comp wasn't designed with gaming in mind though. This here is the powerhouse that is the heart of my home studio. Having a rig like this is great for runnin' multiple adobe products, recording software, and other ram/cpu intensive programs. Pretty good for gamin' though too. Gotta 4973 Low Res benchmark for XIV ^^
I run XIV pretty much full on max 'cept Standard Drawing Quality and No ambient Occlusion.

just search it. first, the ps3 uses 720p resolution maxed on most games. that is the gaming standard where as 1080p is the standard on pc games as of now. it only takes a few seconds to check google for max ps3 resolutions to see that although ps3 can run some 1080p games and movies it does so at a lower quality than its competition. i am not downing the ps3 as it is a great low budget system, but also remember it is quite a few years old now and its been surpassed by many systems including the pc.
"Originally, thought to be a PS3 exclusive, Final Fantasy XIV will in fact be making an appearance on the PC. The developers delve into this a bit, mentioning Crystal Tools, a development platform that will also be used for Final Fantasy XIII and is designed to allow them to port more smoothly to multiple systems. In regards to the PC version, the game will utilize the most current version of Direct X that is out when beta testing begins. This goes for Operating System as well. Similarly, they do not specify Vista or Windows 7 as an operating system, saying again that it will depend on what is out at the time. For those of you looking to prep a new PC, Tanaka claims they are really looking to get on the cutting edge of technology with this installment. Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available."
this was what was said during an interview with tanaka during the original presentation, but here's the full interview.

we already know that ps3 cannot run directx 10 nor directx 11 since both were released years after ps3 was and they have no contract to run either of these platforms.
i'm also sure the 3.2 single core with 256mb ram will not keep up with the powerful computers.
i am not saying it will be bad looking on ps3 nor am i saying it will be unplayable, but i am just saying to get best looking graphics off the ps3 they will have to lower the settings of the game to be able to play properly. like i said good budget pc, but not comparable to the high end systems. it is like all other forms of electronics in that a few years after release it is no longer top of the line, but middle to back of the pack.

ok, now we have something, read the link you posted
