    I have:

Computing Engine: AMD Phenom X2 3.2GHZ CPU
    RAM: 4GB DDR2
    Storage: 5400RPM HDD
Video Engine: EVGA GTX460 768MB GPU
    Play Resolution: 1680

Don't remember what I get on benchmark; I think it was just shy of 4000. I've opted to disable most graphical pleasantries like OO, AA and, etc. Fairly default settings (medium) with textures turned up a slight notch. I typically get about 30fps, as low as 22 in UlDah. Cut-scenes and story mode gameplay is real bad. So much so that I've opted to not do any until I upgrade.

Does anyone know if my CPU or RAM will bottleneck future GPU upgrades?
Does it make sense to secure a solid CPU (i7) and then upgrade GPU?

I kind of know the answers to these questions, but I'm curious as to anyone else's rational behind their reasoning.

(Narrow the scope of the following questions to FFXIV ONLY - if you can)
    Why is CPU important?
    Why is GPU important?
    Why is RAM important?
    Why is HDD important?

I think answering these questions can direct people's buying methods more effeciently than "Get this graphics card" or "Get this CPU", etc.

I was under the influence the 460 would be able to do better than that no? Im not too familiar with that CPU and RAM, but I am assuming there is a major bottleneck somewhere for that to happen. My question is on the benchmark were your low and hi res scored the same or close to? I really like your question it involves a lot of thought for me atm its 2am. I am going to head to bed and reply to it on the morn! Check back please I promise I will reply.

well ya CPU and GPU conflicts can completely bottleneck and drag any system down and really for this game you are lookin at spending 900$s to play on a more mid range system than my crappy yet gets the job done 320$ system. Ya mine runs the game great but like others are stating low performance systems are not capable of running the quest Cut scenes. My cut scenes lag horrbily lol. Sometimes they play all the way thru sometimes its like watching streaming video in 1996 lol.
Your system is not really outdated per say but your probably better off spending around 900$s gettin a new PC than a better CPU/GPUmotherboard and video card.

People really need to just shop around because many online retailers have outrageous sales and often some truly good deals. try Ibuypower.com Cyberpower.com Newegg.com Tigerdirect.com and look hard and compare. try to Avoid the rebate sales tho cus they dont like to pay u the money back lol.
