This can be said for Chaos too except for the bot part. People just don't know how to play / don't care and are mostly just there for the wolf marks (I'm one of this kind, call me bad for it I don't care). The ones really caring about winning mostly join maelstrom which results in their high win ratio.

I only PvP if they put a new glamour item in it that is feasible for me to obtain via Wolf Marks. And even then I just do the daily roulette and get what I get. I'm not competitive, so the overall concept of PvP is lost on me.

Try playing BDO at least for a month. You'll understand what i'm talking about .

I think if they can at least make a Eureka type Instance where there is no queue times for any class, once inside it's kinda like the Frontlines PVP but teams are divided by servers, add a little siege mechanics from GW2 or Campaign mechanics from FFXI. Put relevant gear equivalent to a relic behind it as a reward or old dyeable raid gear, and people might play it.

After that, the option to queue as a freelancer was added. While this is a great option for easing the terrible queues, it did kill a bit of "grand company pride" that I feel helped form bonds with people. I personally didn't care for the 4.0 changes, the change to pvp gear being only glamour, and all of the feast in general. Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Can't comment on the overall popularity of it as I don't engage much in pvp in this game. However I can say that since the rewards included hairstyles and furnishings the interest in pvp among my friends has very noticeably increased. So maybe the rewards is one of many things SE can work on to increase pvp's appeal.

Every time rewards come out for PVP there's a marked increase in interest. If they focused on that it might revive the mode for people who don't play it exclusively, because once everyone has everything interest always drops off.

Garo event definitely had a large amount of people active in pvp. Also I may be in the miniority but I did enjoy 8-man feast. Was bummed the decided to take it out.

I still PvP on occasion, but only to work toward the rewards offered by it. I find the combat to be fairly bland, but there's still some enjoyable matches here and there.

My major problems with it are:

1: Combat in PvP has become boring since the removal of most abilities in SB. Which makes it hard to enjoy the actual gameplay and instead it becomes something I do purely for the item rewards, which I don't think is a sustainable method to keep players interested.

2: The 3v3 format in Frontlines causes weird imbalances that ruin most matches. Almost every game result is because of some weird mix match caused by having three times. For example one team can perform very well, but their success becomes a 2v1 situation that is impossible to win. Or one team is handed a victory, because the two other teams are fighting each other instead. I would prefer a 1v1 scenario where those kind of imbalances don't happen. That way a team either wins or loses on its own merit and not because of what some third wheel team did.

If PVP didn't require 10min-2 hour wait queue time more ppl would play it xD. Instant queue instanced PVP like in Eureka would make it work.
