or you know its just a game not a job maybe they dont care as long as they are you know having fun like a game is meant to be. i know thats what i do, i play how i want and i dont really care what others think. imo you pay to play this game you have every right to play how you want to play it and doesnt mean someone is playing badly doesnt mean you have the right to hound them about it.

Well, you won't mind if we say that to you in response. We have every right to play this game how we want also, and if that includes and means kicking out players that are not performing to the basic requirements of their jobs, well, sorry.

I pay to play a game where I expect people to be competent and not roll an eggplant on a keyboard and see what miraculous wonders may happen in Normal Chaos.

It's just a game, after all, try not to be bitter about it when we kick people with your mentality out.

Ladies and gentlemen we have found an actual elitist. Not the ones that ppl like feel are elitists but are, in fact, just raiders.

You can be the most friendly person ever, but you are still shaming that underperforming person in front of the rest of the party.

We can always go back to kicking them silently and letting them continue to underperform, since pointing that out is "shaming" them.

Sigh if we tell them about their shortcomings, we're mean and shaming them. If we kick silently, we're mean because we're not giving them a chance to improve. If we tell them about their shortcomings and kick them, we're mean and toxic raider filth.

Then you don't want us to say people here like to coddle bad gameplay...

They should let you send tells to people in dutyfinder then. Until they let you do that, it's either let them know in front of the group or say nothing, and saying nothing doesn't help anyone.

Some of the spooky scary "raider' types that some of the more "it's just a game" types are allergic to are incredibly friendly. In fact, to make any progress at all in cooperative content requires a certain degree of sociability. They just expect teammates to do their share, and if the odd one out refuses they're not worth having on the team.

Which is all fine and dandy. That's what kicks are for! Kicking non-team players!

I'd be a hypocrite if I worried about whether others are bad, considering the reason I avoid random groups whenever possible is due to the almost inevitable break down to a game of "I'm not it" if things don't go smoothly.

I too thought (and think) so, which is why I found this thread to be a disappointing surprise. The title of the thread was pretty clear and wasn't really open to interpretation. You don't go around calling people bad. People however, questioned it, and some went as far as to claim calling someone bad could very well be an accurate assessment. Then had someone else claim that it could be too that the term bad was referred to a player's performance. Basically, anything and beyond to justify harassing someone.

There you go again, shifting the goalposts again. First assessment, then "honest assessment," now "accurate assessment." We also had this issue with the modifier "formative" for the term "formative assessment."

You know if a word needs a modifier, then that means the word does not naturally mean what it means with said modifier? Saying somebody is bad at the game is an assessment. It's not a formative one. One could argue it's a summative assessment. However it does not need to be a formative assessment to be an accurate assessment, an honest assessment, or an assessment.

Guess I'm not a nice person because I kick PLD that only uses shield lob and turns the boss cleave into melee their faces.


To be completely honest though, those raiders that kick bad players are actually the people that helped me perform better when I was quite new at this, I actually started raiding seriously back in 2009 in WoW and those 'OMG toxic elite people' have always been kind enough to point out my mistakes and give me constructive feedback (which you can draw from analyzing the DPS meters and parse logs), thanks to these people I eventually managed to get some servers first achievements.

Now to get more back on this game specific I've done quite some pug runs here too, even when it was my first time running. But I don't go join a farm or kill group when it's my first time. Also back on Suzaku I actually confused the pull and push-back causing me to run it when she was pulling or running back when she was pushing back, well I still have my head and my kills with half the group being pugs on the first time actually.
And you know why? Because I actually talk and especially when it's my first few runs I actually say that and tell what my issue or problem is. There was a kind soul to remind me of what text was what.

Communication people. Then there's also this magic thing like the internet where you can find all sorts of info and where you can even watch videos, weird huh.
Yes this is a game and not work but this is a game with learning. You have to learn your rotation, you have to learn mechanics in order to kill bosses especially in higher difficulty. Maybe this isn't the game for whoever thinks of this as work. There's always Hello Kitty online though although there you also have to learn that pressing B is jump and pressing A is interacting with objects ... hard stuff.

I find people that say no word and spam shield lob the entire fight, run their aoe marker into people and don't stack up on stack markers the actual toxic bad people and I have no issue initiating a vote kick or voting yes on one.
