If it were something you cared about, it wouldn't be baffling. If they commemorated the introduction of feast by giving everyone the same top 100 rewards of that season, people would be mad. Or fifth anniversary of ultimate by the ultimate weapons. As I understand it, it was a hard trial at the end of 1.0 that served as a memento for legacy players. All that had to be done was add "replica" in front of the name.

Thank you Yoshi for doing this. Even though I don't have a dog in this fight, legacy players did stick with the game through its darkest times, and its nice you consider their feelings.

As were the Coil fights (specifically Second Coil, before it was heavily nerfed). But now they're unsyncable and with Replica gear that's more valuable because they can be dyed :T
Beating Phoenix for the first time with my static back then was amazing and getting that FMV cutscene was a very nice reward.

Quite a few 1.0 players spoke up to say that they did not mind the decision at all...though they were drowned out by the vocal minority. This was the case across all regions. I took the liberty of checking out the other threads regarding the issue with the help of a translation.

It's still very much a minority in the grand scheme of things and those complaining only did so because they wanted exclusivity. Nobody was taking away their accomplishments. A new generation was simply getting to enjoy something six years after the original batch of players obtained them. When WoW implemented a similar return of old, unobtainable items I do not recall much backlash at all.

They wouldn't be able to do that now. The 1.0 item and the purchased Rising item are, at a programming level, the same thing. It would be impossible to rename only some of them, because it will affect the new and old items equally.

It's still possible, particularly if they've read the reactions and learned from it, that the potential Mogstation version could be a separate 'replica' item instead of the original again, even if they can't change what they put in the event itself.

Others have asked for the story alone to be told on a DVD or in a book, but as I've already mentioned, the plot was plagued with issues, and as I took the liberty of ignoring certain points of lore, it suffers from numerous inconsistencies.

You could just not include the things that are no longer canon. The story may have had flaws, but it was interesting in various regards. People wouldn't ask if they weren't interested and an official dvd/book is definitely a decent compromise. It won't be the same, but some people like to read lore and want something official, instead of fan made. Especially when fan-made content may not know what's still considered canon and what's not and end up having to make guesses.

When I was first starting out, I know I was annoyed that these various characters I'm supposed to care about, like Louisoix, I didn't actually know much about and I kept hoping the game would try a little harder to explain to me why I should care about him and his legacy and sacrifice at all, and what exactly Dalamud was and this great calamity and what drove it to happen in the first place. While the story is understandable without this knowledge, it definitely felt like something was missing - which considering the ARR story is already lingering at some points, having this extra feeling of "what am I missing because I was unlucky to not have a good enough computer to play 1.X way back when" certainly didn't help at all... No other main FF game has its story inaccessible like that.

I ended up having to scour the internet for various sources and honestly, the 1.X storyline is plenty interesting. Not perfect, but it has its appeal. Just because you don't think it does, doesn't mean we shouldn't get to have somewhat of an official experience and end up hoping that none of these fan sources are ever taken down...

The Rising event is nice , but it is about the last days. What you don't get is that people who are asking about official sources and legacy servers (regardless of whether old legacy data is preserved. Most of the people asking for it would be making new characters anyway so old data wouldn't matter, especially people who are asking for temporary servers like Diablo's seasons.) aren't just asking about the very end of it - We want to experience the official (still canon) story in its entirety, flaws and all. We want to experience the original class quests and GC quests storyline. So stop fixating on this idea that it's all about the very end of the calamity itself that we want to recreate, because it's not and we're aware that it'll never be fully recreated. We want to understand what led up to it too....

I believe the first response after Yoshi's post in the japanese thread is asking for all white ravens to be tagged as "replica" and then the "original" white ravens to be reobtainable from the calamity salvager for people who acquired them in 1.0.

Not entirely true. Aside from just being able to sort the items based purely on date of acquirement (which is data that is used in recovering lost items) the people who have the original earring also have a legacy dated achievement stating the date in which they completed Riven Road (Hard). That alone can be enough to flag 'original' earrings and mass change the rest. Whether or not they go that far is another matter entirely though I suppose.

I personally find it troubling that this is the thing that folks got in an up rage about. Trust me I understand the mindset, but I can't help but feel like this was a fight better left alone. For myself it left a dark cloud over the celebration. I dabbled in 1.0 and have played off and on since 2.0 fairly seriously. But I can't help but think that the experience is the priceless part, not some earrings most have all but forgotten. Ushering the game in through the turmoil should fill you with pride rather than misplaced rage for something so trivial. We have a long way too go, with many changes ahead of us. As a community we should probably weigh in more heavily on changes that need to be implemented to keep the game fresh and exciting, rather than worrying about how unfair giving people vanity gear that was collecting dust in your glamour dresser was or wasn't.

紅月下のレガシーアチーブヒストリー取得者はLv50・IL90の「ホワイトレイヴン」を遺失物NPCから取得し直せるよう提案させて頂きます。

追記：アチーブではなく第六星暦ヒストリーの方でした。システム側で自動対応できるのかは不明ですが頑張ってほしいですね。
