With the same dismissive tones, thinly veiled attacks and a general attitude problem that will ultimately be this game's undoing.
If you have something worthwhile to contribute, we can discuss it. If you want to reaffirm that the thread is too creepy for you and leave it again, that's fine too.

Bit late to the party but eh i can add my 1 cent lol, I feel it was a mistake to add. Perhaps they could have added something else of his as glamour but I was definitely under the impression way back when that it was a limited one time.. I mean you can argue that "in ARR" is the keywording here although there might be other wording to lock that down too, but yeah. . . lol.

I'm not really a fan of one time rewards, I really like letting people go back and collect things but if ever something is said to be limited then it should be done as it is said. If it was keywording misunderstanding (that's some threading the needle lol) then.. definitely be super explicit in the future about any sort of limited items (like if they're just sometimes available vs never again).

If it was SE's mistake to release then personally I think a compensation would be a good idea- my suggestion is create a Nael Van Darnus or Dalamud trophy (or related emote) for housing, give it to them for free and then on a FFXIV anniversary also sell it coupled with a physical statue (like Odin mount, this will help justify the cost of making the model in game). Can understand some people being frustrated with this, although ideally (imo) content isn't designed to be limited just different types of challenges to obtain.

This isn't the first time SE has gone back on their word about a limited time item. The moogle outfit, as I recall, was referred to specifically using the word 'exclusive' and in connection with a Fanfest, which at the time was assumed to mean it wouldn't ever be available again. The white ravens were just the first time they chose to do this with a 1.x exclusive which was bound to happen eventually, but a lot of people got uptight about it. I can understand why, because I've felt let-down by these sorts of actions in the past both with items that I had and didn't have, but the whole thing just escalated to a point where it felt more like a bunch of people complaining because how dare they treat 1.0 players the same way they treat the rest of us. I was glad to see these threads die out finally.

In my defense I didn't go find it on page 10 , saw it on the front page and was like "oh yeah.. I felt weird getting that as a reward..". haha

I just want to encourage SE to do what they've said, whatever that may be, and hope they honestly review/audit themselves and adjust/adapt as they go. For whatever that may be, we don't need more poopy game companies we got plenty of that disappointment lol. (yay fallout 76, EA/Activision, etc)

Let’s imagine a scenario in which Player A and B cross paths in-game. On Player B’s screen, Player A appears with their brand-new title and Ultimate weapon─the same weapon that they appear to themselves as having equipped. Conversely, on Player A’s screen, Player A appears with their title and hard-won weapon, while Player B appears in their default gear.

In other words, Player A sees the rewards each player has earned fairly within the context of the game’s rules. Player B sees a modified version of the game, but these changes are visible only to Player B themselves, and thus fall within the realm of individual enjoyment. (Please note that this is not intended as a judgment on the virtue of one approach versus the other.)

Similarly, if a player chooses to install a mod, the risk of encountering a computer virus, for example, is borne by the individual. Additionally, mods that do not adversely affect other players, and which ensure visual changes are only visible to the individual user, can be said to narrowly maintain the integrity of the game’s design─although, of course, this is open to interpretation.

However, if a mod was updated and its changes became visible not just to the individual mod user, but to other players too, what would the implications be? Player A (with their title and gear earned from hours of concerted effort with their friends) and Player B (with their mod-derived gear), are now on a level playing field, so to speak. This development may not concern Player B, but for Player A, it considerably negates the cooperation, time, and effort invested, not to mention the pride they might have felt in their achievement. After all, their rewards are now available to anyone with the mod installed, albeit lacking the corresponding in-game attributes.

In this example, other players have been infringed upon, and the intended design of the game has been negatively impacted. Although Player B may have been unaware of the mod’s precise functionality, their usage has diminished other players’ motivation and circumvented the game’s systems. Even if the creator of the mod simply intended for players to readily access and enjoy their favorite gear, they have detrimentally affected both the game and the wider player community.

It kinda does though. Real life medals are yours for the rest of your life, hell you can even pass it on to your future grand children. A digital pair of earrings which can easily disappear if the game closes down mean you'll have nothing to show for it but your memories.

Real life rewards cannot be compared to temporary digital ones.

That's what's called a very vocal minority. Number of pages is meaningless because several people replied more than once, and even if we're very generous and attributed the number of posts in this thread to players complaining about this, compared to the 600k active players, it's not even 0,1% of the population. Even taking all threads about this here and on Reddit doesn't even reach near it (and we're not considering the people who are indifferent about it or are protesting against 1.0 players attitude on principle)

Yes, 1.0 players are being humiliated...

By their behavior in this thread.

Oh look it's those words again that people throw around when they want to pretend they're right without making an argument.

And another one post vocal minority statement.

No doubt, 1.0 are minority today, but in no way minority should be baffled & missconsiderated or dealt with a lack of foresight after "said claims". Sorry but with a game creating company, I do not like play on words myself.

    I miss ……… sometimes.
