As a 1.0 player from open 1.0 beta til the very end, I respond. The lvl 50 fight was advertised as a limited time fight that was going away when 1.0 would go away. Therefore, all rewards from content that would no longer be available, would not be available also. We were encouraged to get as much done as we could before the game went away because that would be our only chance. We were encourage also, to record any cs's from that version of the game, as there would no longer be a way to watch them in the inns once it went away. It's the principal of giving one's word and that those who earned the items have no way of distinguishing theirs as the originals after the event goes into swing. I've worn mine proudly as glamour constantly since the glamour system was implemented as a source of nostalgia and pride of having cleared the ultimate fight of that time and I cherish those days, I made good memories, now this happens. They could've easily made new assets, a mount or glamour as a reward. I don't know how many of us are still playing anymore, so I speak w/o that knowledge.Anyway, I do have a question for the 1.0 users who have the earrings or are otherwise upset that the rest of us can now get them too --
Since the Rising event hasn't happened yet, what if the earrings are from a level 50 fight of Nael just as it was back in 1.0? Even though we have more classes now and different abilities, the fight remains the same. Would that be an acceptable compromise?
Yes 1 fight is also long gone and doesn't exist, meanwhile Ultimate everyone has the opportunity to aim for it, including players that may not clear it, so it is a fundamentally poor comparison. That is the point I was making, about the only realistic comparison you can draw with the 1.x is with PvP, rewards that are exclusive to rankings. Even then trying to make a stretchy argument that they would give those away is just absurd, particularly granted how commemorative the earrings are to both the game and the players when compared with PvP.People are comparing this to UWU because the 1.0 fight was 1.0's Ultimate raid. It was the hardest fight in the game that the servers at the time could handle. Not everyone could clear it. Only a fraction of us did. Just like the 2 ultimate fights in the game right now. Only a portion of the gaming community has cleared them.
Not to mention that the glory and the achievement of completing that fight has long passed. Granted to some players they hold a special value. But others, just a poor excuse to make complaints over a promise not being kept that was made 6 years ago.
Again, you people should be happy they're, and we are commemorating an encounter, or quest series that you people participated in and completed.

I have to agree. It's like stolen valor. How can you prove you cleared it and didn't just get them from this year's anniversary event?

The community back then was very small in comparison to what it has grown into today. That being said, I have to agree with Canadane. It's like stolen valor. How can you prove you cleared it unless what? you have a video of your historic fight clear? With the ultimate fights of today, you get a title to prove you got it done other than the weapon, we got nothing but the White Ravens. We have no title to show off like the Ultimate raid clearers. How about SE implement a title for us clearing Nael deus Darnus HM I had a GM once tell me when I was reporting on harrassment in-game, that they could go through every thing ever typed in chat I'd typed. I responded with, gl with that, I've been playing since open beta 1.0, you'll be there a good while. That tells me that in theory, they could go through that mountain of 1.0 data and find the players who cleared the fight then and provide them with a title. Altering their appearance or giving out new, entirely original event rewards would be a thing, this just speaks of laziness in part to re-use assets some have no other way of proving how they obtained them now.

Was it required to beat Rivenroad (Hard) to get the "Once in a Lifetime" title?
No, IIRC you just had to clear Normal and do some other stuff afterwards. There is no achievement for clearing Rivenroad (Hard), just the earrings. I don't have the earrings and I have that achievement.

Fair enough, but it's still something to prove "hey, I did a fight 6 years ago."

Yes, but how do you now distinguish the ones that people got from clearing the fight from the event reward ones? You can't. The Ultimate fight clear groups can by slapping on their title, we just have that earring as our title. Or we did, until this. Until this, there would be no doubt you cleared the fight to get them because there was no other way to get them, now that way of proving it will be gone.

Someone showed me this on twitter:
There IS NOT an achievement for beating Rivenroad (Hard). You CAN however see the timestamp via lodestone under "Legacy - Sixth Astral Era".
"Nariko Star has earned a place in the annals of history by besting Nael deus Darnus (Hard). - 10/20/2012"
I don't believe there is any way to confirm this strictly via game client though (I have not confirmed). And the person would have to have achievements set to public on lodestone for it to be visible but it seems it is at least documented.
