Your statement is missing the point of the person you quoted and is wrong on in and of itself. Taken at face value what you're saying is equivalent to PVPers deserve the completely gutted and bot ridden modes they have, Raiders deserve easier mechanics and draconian loot restrictions and PvErs deserve Pagos; clearly none of that is true yet that is what you'd like use to believe based on your statement.

Yes, that would be wrong. Patches and developers working to improve things is obviously a thing. That doesn't change that point I made that the claims of people not deserving the treat being given out that the developers have decided to provide is silly at all. I’m astounded at how many pages this argument has gone on for, I’ve been playing since 1.0 alpha, but I’m not going to get torn up over them giving out old 1.0 content items. I’d prefer they left the tattoo alone, but that’s about it. I’ll be happy to get the earrings as I tried many times to get a group together to beat that fight but we never succeeded and I ran out of time. I played FFXI since 2004 and they’ve handed out many items that were nigh impossible to obtain at one time but there is no point in being salty over digital items. You can always treasure the memories you made with your friends and that will never be taken away.

I have a feeling anything Legacy Campaign items (chocobo, tattoo, name in credits and of course the best thing a Legacy player has been given, a subscription discount) will remain exclusive to Legacy players. From what I can recall, to even be given Legacy status, you actually had to pay to play FFXIV 1.2X within a certain period of time for three months (confirmation needed). You paid the devs to fix FFXIV and were rewarded for your contribution

If they handed any of that stuff out (Legacy chocobo and tattoo), then that would be a very bad move on SE's behalf.

Your opinion is an opinion. The devs have already decided to release them. They are in the code and the game already. Have been for awhile, given they were data-mined... Pitching a fit and being rather childish towards each other here is not going to change that fact. The company made a decision to do something with their old data which you agreed to when you clicked that TOS button and rented use of that data.

What people are going overboard with here is attacking each other. Devs have released these. They are there. Period. Going on about 'stolen valor' is an extreme over-reaction to a video game and for adults... worrying. Perspective of the situation, please.

I am saying people are behaving poorly. Stating an opinion in a mature way is one thing... and that is not happening in this thread a lot of the time.

I disagree. Many people - myself included - are completely fine with items that we've earned or bought over the years being enjoyed by those who do not yet have them.

I raided in WoW for a super long time so I got lots of cool mounts and titles. Though I worked hard to get them from top tier content, I always strongly disagreed with the idea that those shinies should be unobtainable when a new tier launches.

I don't really care how people get their beloved shinies. Someone else having an easier time getting them at a later date never annoyed me. I'm just glad to see people enjoy them.

1: Not the least bit jealous. At all. That's an ad hominem attack, an assumption, against everyone that is simply not agreeing with your opinion and position. Shows you do not really have firm ground outside of 'because I say so'.
2: There is no 'you don't DESERVE it' at this point. The content it was from is gone. It is defunct. Arguably harder version of it was introduced and people HAVE beaten it. And, at this point, farmed it.
3: The 'why or why not' is simply and cleanly answered by 'The developers wanted to treat the community to a commemorative treat to the old content and picked this.' You can like it or not. But that is the why.
