The lodestone has announced the new Rising event.

As you can see, they are giving away not just a replica; but the same exclusive 1.0 item won from the hard mode of the limited-time fight against Nael van Darnus in the side quest The Raven, Nevermore in Version 1.0. (You would recognise the Dalamud from which Bahamut burst forth and laid waste to what was 1.0)

Obviously in this 2012 context 'A realm reborn' refers to the games rebirth in general, not 'before heavensward'. I doubt a community rep even knew the next expansions name then.



I want to express my fervent disappointment in the decision to bring a Trophy item like this back and just hand it out like it means nothing.
This item is a direct symbol of the games origins but most of all, to those of us who earned it through battle.. well its a message that nothing in this game is worth anything.

I would feel terrible if the exclusive Trophies won by the Feast champions were given out next year for just doing a 15 minute event. Or the Ultimate Weapons being given out in a few years time for no effort even though they said (this year) they will not make the fight easier. Why have a Trophy when you didn't earn it?

That is how I feel about the White Ravens, these event items are not even Replicas and it saddens me.
I don't want to cause an argument about entitlement, that isn't an issue. This is about being authentic and trustworthy so that there is value that can be gleamed from the decision to spend hours in this world that I want to keep on loving.

I cleared both Ultimate and Rivenroad (Hard), I think I can give accurately enough my 2 cents about comparing their difficulty.
But as opposed as some people, I'm taking everything into account to measure their respective difficulty, because in the end, you have to go through all those things to get your clear, not just popping in the arena, and this is what will dictate the number of hours, your involvement level and all the resources you had to deploy.

If we're gonna play semantics you only need ARR to access this (The event), thus it is available in ARR. Lol

I would also like to apologize to those who feel the decision to give away the White Ravens as a reward was unfair or disappointing, as undermining prior achievements was certainly not the intention of the development and operations teams.
We are deeply sorry for this oversight, and we now realize our mistake in not making the item a "replica" in the first place, as has been suggested.

I would like to ask that some time soon, perhaps when your deadlines allow; that you can kindly fix said mistake and rename the event items as 'White Ravens Replica' especially if they are going to be added to the Mog Station next year.

Getting feedback from these forums is quite difficult when emotions run high, Perhaps an official survey with meaningful questions would help in this regard.

How long will you guys still be outraged by all these "items" you 'lose'. People asked for 1.0 stuff in recent QA's and they are giving it to them. Until you lose your best reward which is 33% less sub fee vs the majority, I don't see why the outrage.

Items like these have been exclusive for you for "years" you already basked in the lime light of them in that time, that is if you consistently used them for 5 years...

But yes, its 2018 and I am outraged is a thing.

i would love this, we all know we will be able to unsync ultimate fights eventually so thats not surprise but i hope they lets us get the feast rewards some how in the future.

No one has stopped you from enjoying your 1.0 items for the last 5+ years. Any other item I’ve had exclusively for that long, I wouldn’t feel bad of it was made widely available later. Plus it’s just earrings. This is a glamor item that’s so small most people won’t even notice them on another player chatacter.

And that's what surprises me here. That was a perfectly fine chance to monetize something again and they didn't bother to take it? They must've run out of some deadline.

I think this kind of exclusive item should be gated behind a similar accomplishment that people had to back in 1.0. A good move, in my opinion, would be to give it to players who clear all savage content in the stormblood expansion, or even better : beat nael deus darnus with minimum item level. That would have been far more appropriate.

To all of the people going "Who cares, its just an earring" "Who cares about it's trophy status"


It's not just the fact that its earrings or a trophy, its that the fight was a thank you to those that had stuck with a game that we KNOW was going away, the devs gave us the chance to get an item that we could remember things by and this was your only chance to grab one.


They can release it, sure. (Never got one cause I only managed to do the fight once but w/e) But to 1.0 players, its crazy to think that the devs would rather just stomp over all over that good will instead of just making it a replica piece like with the riding chocobo helm and the 1.0 chocobo mask. OR just make a new pair of earrings.


But i guess the Stormblood devs arent original enough to even give us NEW earring glamours ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Just off the top of my head, how about earrings with the Risings Meteor logo?)

Yes, I feel the same way. Similar challenge for a similar reward. Ultimately it would have been nice to see The Raven, Nevermore recreated for 2.0 and available from the Wandering Mistral.

Even then, perhaps it should have been a replica, not the exact original. Best of both worlds.
