On the day when patch 4.4 get released, as always, I will burn alot of gil (for some I know it takes between 80 and 100 million of Gil) to overmeld my crafter gear with the new required stats to be able to craft the 4 star recipes. Overmeldung eats alot of materia. 50-100 fails for slot 4 and 5 in every piece of gear are sadly a normal thing in this game.

I will also buy some mats I have no time to gather it myself, which I had to throw away because of no storage space available, as I need to get my battle gear for Alphascape Savage ready as fast as possible. With my current new group we plan to finish Alphascape Savage within the first three weeks, so I will also spend alot of Gil to overmeld this too.

New bufffood and pots are also incoming. I have both specialists ready for this. But right after the beginning, I will not have the time to gather all mats for it.

When my own preparation is done, I can start to produce stuff to sell. At this point I do minimize the amount of gil I spend for mats. But there is sometimes stuff you can only get for tomes or other currencies than gil, which I also would buy with gil from the market board, when the time needed to collect it is to much for me.

When you only play casual in this game, than gil is not really winning much for you. But when you play competitive, Gil is a thing and so additional retainers are an advantage.

All you stated is just taking the lazy way. You could easily just gather all the stuff you buy on patch. That you chose to buy all materia and material to craft on patchday is on you. Many crafters like myself already have 100s of materia saved up for months of doing weeklies, scribs and spiritbonding.

Btw: I also needed alot of gil to be successfull at the "Shirogane Savage house buying" run. And finally I got the most expensive size L plot around 15 mins after the servers gone online.

I said after getting your house Gil is little to no to use.

For the record the cost itself doesn't bother me but I was saying mainly for others that are affected by it but this is news. I was under the impression that the 5$ premium COVERED the additional retainer + Saddle bag expansion monthly... so you're saying its gonna be 5$ + 2 $ so 7$ for an additional retainer? Are you sure? Like I know it says in the Premium service you get an additional retainer but does it mention that it only unlocks the option to purchase one? Because the wording leads one to believe that you simply gain it automatically. This would be great to drill on.

According to the App FAQ for $5 you get a additional retainer for FREE and access to the saddlebag and all other premium features. People are confusing a mistranslated LL from a while ago where it was incorrectly stated that you unlock a additional slot to hire for $2 on mogstation, this is false.

So when you have saved all of them, than you have, unlike me, paid retainers. So you have an (paid) advantage as I do not have the storage space to do this.

That you chose to buy all materia and material to craft on patchday is on you.

I also save materia. But they are always not enough. With the crafter gear of patch 4.2 I lost around 150 materias to just one piece of gear caused by our RNGenesus. And I fully overmeld the 12 pieces except main and offhand.

Of course not but i'm taking into account to previous patches where materials been gathered by unspoiled/tomes. So It is possible to farm these for free.

Cause I, like many other don't believe in that having the ABILITY to sell more is PAY TO WIN.
It's okey though, wouldn't be fun if everyone agreed on everything <3

Also, now days you can have 999 per material, you have access to 2 retainers and a saddlebag. I'm sorry if you use your retainer to stockpile your mats and still running out? You're doing something wrong.


You sound you are a semi experienced crafter, then you should know you don't need to craft the top stuff on day 1 cause of the price wars between crafters. You probably lose more gil (if you chose to spend it) on day 1 than take your time and sell once people price cut for millions of gil during patch week.

I downloaded the companion app to try it.
Well in my opinion it is an almost useless app.
You can only have 2 Kupo Nuts which a pathetic freemium thing to push you on the paid plan.
The chat function is kinda useless as it's not a real in game chat but an app only chat.
Who cares about this when you have so many chat apps on your phone that people actually use.
I can only find some merit in the MB browsing function to check for things while you are not in game but then again you have only 2 interactions to do so yeah this app is a shameful freemium milking mobile app and nothing more.

All this arguing is moot and most of your opinions are just that.. The FACT is the app is lack luster itself. It's functions behind a pay wall is also lack luster, and it's competitor WOW has an app that gives the features their players wanted where the FF app has 3/10 of what the community wanted for an App and most of those functions they intentionally nerfed. I know it's still early but until I can send a retainer on a venture while im on the crapper I will be Uninstalling this app.

I've said this also. I was in love with WoW app because everything about it you could do without having to pay for it. SE pretty much took Blizzard idea (and made it crap) and put it behind a pay wall. I mainly used WoW for doing auctions and picking up my gold when stuff sold and that all I would use XIV for and retainers. Buuuuut it all behind a pay wall so, nope! Deleted it right off my phone after a few hours.

I never claimed it was feature filled. Even with Prem it at least serves some purpose, but should be free.

I will be Uninstalling this app.

I downloaded the app to give it a try, but I had high expectations after using the WoW app blizzard had when I played WoW religiously. I didn’t care about the MB feature (though being able to send retainers out while on the go would have been nice >.>), all I wanted were the chat features. You can’t use the app to talk within game, which is a huge disappointment. You can’t even talk with people unless they have the app which is frustrating. Here my fellow officers were thinking this was gonna be a fix to the communication issue we had with someone we’ve been looking to promote to officer (they don’t use discord). I didn’t want another discord type app. I wanted to be able to talk with all of the FC people when I wasn’t online and they were. We use discord, but not all of the fam wants it, so we were hoping this was gonna let us stay in contact. It’s a very sad day.

They could have done way better.
