Cool. So everyone who is saying they will never download/use should download, link, then delete app, just to get the extra discounted teleport.

I agree with the concept of this, but the one thing that bothers me is that SE will see all of these DLs and register them as "this app is great everybody is DLing it", especially since I don't think they'll track it if you delete it, just if you DL'd it in the first place. Maybe wait until the first few weeks are gone so it's not a "popular download".

The chat feature is so beyond useless... How is it the chat app that Trion released for Rift years ago (Can't remember if this was before or after it went ftp, I almost want to say it was after the game went ftp) that was completely free managed to tie you directly into in game guild chat, but SE's app with a premium option for a game that has a mandatory sub can't? This doesn't even touch on how slow the chat is, even though all you are doing is using it like an instant messenger that requires absolutely no ties to the game servers at all. To say this is a poor man's Discord would be far far too generous to this app. I've never uninstalled something on my phone so fast as I did this dumpster fire of an app. Hopefully SE pays attention to the fact that at least on the Google Play Store the app's review rating is at 1.9 stars. I'm also not even going to delve into the levels of wrong it is to have a premium on this thing, lock more inventory behind the pay wall, and then add a micro-transaction currency on top of it all.

Yoshi-P posted in this thread, I want to know his thoughts on acknowledging most people think this is a scam. At least that is my view on why people hate it and I feel it is a flat out scam, putting a F2P model on a sub model on top of the overpriced mog station items. I linked a 250+ liked post on this manner to here. I want to know why nothing more is being said. I want to know why that thread was ignored, along with the ongoing comments with this and the problems with eureka and the stale formula in general. Are the really that out of touch they do not see how many people are unhappy? even my server feels slow and dead, surely they should be reflective in their income sheets.

Hello, everyone. This is FFXIV Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida.

During a recent Letter from the Producer LIVE, I mentioned our new companion app would be released around the end of July or the beginning of August. Unfortunately, we’ve had to push back this date, and I wish to apologize, as well as explain the reason for the delay.

Testing and debugging of the app itself is complete, and we submitted it to distributors at the end of July. As you might imagine, FFXIV Companion contains features not typically found in a mobile app, some of which require registration and installation of the game. The implementation of these features has necessitated several exchanges with the distributors, which has delayed the processing of our submission by several days.(edited)
Furthermore, upon closer inspection of the app’s features─more specifically, the chat function─while there are no problems with its functionality, there were certain aspects of the design we weren’t completely satisfied with, which have since been adjusted.

Our submission should be processed within a few days, and we plan to release the app as soon we receive approval, which could even be this week.

Again, I apologize for the delay, and I ask that you bear with us a little while longer.

Truthfully, this is more about perception than anything else. They said the regular synced inventory is what can't be expanded further (beyond what they did with SB), and the whole reason for developing the saddlebag and glamour dresser was to work around those limits. So now that they worked around the limits by developing these other methods, they can expand it further using this these various kinds of "side-storage" (which isn't limited like regular inventory).

I'm sure they'd probably argue that they already more-than-doubled people's storage space since the launch of SB, and that they've always sold extra storage capacity as an add-on. Objectively they're not wrong... but, as your quote points out, it won't really change people's sour perception that they're selling part of the solution to the problem.

They are not doing enough as far as making inventory manageable. If they truly cannot fit anymore room, start removing items from the game, like pointed out here:

there is a LOT of unnecessary items in the game that do not need to be taken inventory slots like all the trade in currencies, repetitive item mats from the same node, dyes, different colored versions of the same item like flower corsages. I mean I do find it neat how someone has to go to make them but... gotta live within your limits, and SE is doing a poor job with that in regards how many items they put in our inventories.

We shouldn't have to pay all this extra money for inventory space, that is just being cash grabby and double dipping on a problem they made, along with not fixing the 1.0 coding issues.

Useless pathetic cashgrab. It can't do a single thing really - you can't chat there, you can't trade there, you can't organize things there. Thanks SE for one favorite destination, that would be all I'll ever use in this app.

Oh god this again. When are people going to understand having extra retainers and a saddlebag Is.Not.Pay-to-win.

If you do crafting an selling on the marketboard, it is a paid advantage, as you get 20 slots for item selling with every paid retainer.

And don't forget the storage. If you really do active endgame crafting, with only 2 retainers you have to throw away alot of mats as you will run out of space. And you have to gather them again when new recipes appear. With more retainers you can store all of them. So you save time when a new patch kicks in. As faster you are ready to sell, the more gil you can make with it.

The problem is that Yoshida is part of the board of directors now. x) So he is one of the higher ups and should kinda have a bit of a pull there..

Edit: I do understand that companies want to earn money and try everything possible, but should it come with the cost that people are already starting to see you as another EA? Reputation is something quite necessary today and if its once ruined it will be hard to get back..

You could argue it's pay to win in the same way that paying for additional retainers give's you more "shelf-space" than people that don't pay for it. The amount of in-game item sells you lose must not be that much for the service they are offering to warrant not having it.

But I do agree with everyone else, download it, get the free teleport so u can have both Kugane and Limsa, then delete it. There are better third party apps out there for socialising like Discord, and the UI for the marketing stuff is a mess. The coins are over-priced and there are so many versions on android that it's hard to figure it out on multiple phones.
