Hello, everyone. This is FFXIV Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida.

During a recent Letter from the Producer LIVE, I mentioned our new companion app would be released around the end of July or the beginning of August. Unfortunately, we’ve had to push back this date, and I wish to apologize, as well as explain the reason for the delay.

Testing and debugging of the app itself is complete, and we submitted it to distributors at the end of July. As you might imagine, FFXIV Companion contains features not typically found in a mobile app, some of which require registration and installation of the game. The implementation of these features has necessitated several exchanges with the distributors, which has delayed the processing of our submission by several days.

Furthermore, upon closer inspection of the app’s features─more specifically, the chat function─while there are no problems with its functionality, there were certain aspects of the design we weren’t completely satisfied with, which have since been adjusted.

Our submission should be processed within a few days, and we plan to release the app as soon we receive approval, which could even be this week.

Again, I apologize for the delay, and I ask that you bear with us a little while longer.

So it's going to actually let you chat with your FC members in some kind of meaningful way now, and not just be some inferior Discord, right?

You know, the feature that people actually wanted this app for. The one feature you touted 3 years ago when you first mentioned this thing was in development.

To do things on the app like selling an item on the market board costs a kuponut - you get 2 max a day on the free version, and 10 on the $$$ version. Also you can buy a ton of kuponuts for $40. I think this is vile and disgusting, access to the game you are playing should be a right. We already bought the game, we pay a sub - you guys make more than enough without making the app itself cost even more to just USE. It's so disheartening, this is my favorite game - I've been playing since beta. Please re-think the extra cost on top of the app sub. It's not that I can't afford it, it's just obscene to pay for that. I don't understand why we have to pay for each interaction. You also can only talk to the people who have the app as well. Taking away people's ability to communicate with their friends, sometimes a vital component to someone's life, is inhumane. Please re-think the extra cost, please. Thank you for your time. =^.^=

We did the minute it was mentioned, and the reaction in the English forum was largely "Thanks, I hate it"

Yoshi-P posted in this thread, I want to know his thoughts on acknowledging most people think this is a scam. At least that is my view on why people hate it and I feel it is a flat out scam, putting a F2P model on a sub model on top of the overpriced mog station items. I linked a 250+ liked post on this manner to here. I want to know why nothing more is being said. I want to know why that thread was ignored, along with the ongoing comments with this and the problems with eureka and the stale formula in general. Are the really that out of touch they do not see how many people are unhappy? even my server feels slow and dead, surely they should be reflective in their income sheets.

Google Play Download was available, now App Server down/locked? No need to apologize. Empty words.

Can anyone confirm whether it had been available for a while for iOS as well? If not - I suspect that the verification process on Google Play had been done more quickly than they expected, and they took down the App for the time being so that there wouldn't be a shitstorm because iOS has yet to wait.
