What i can say is this..... Being that IMO THM is getting a huge downgrade.....I want to see a pet class. Id like to see something similar to pup in the whole equippable/customizable pet. Love us or hate us, one thing im pretty sure almost anyone can attest to is our love of the job. But please yoshi p, not those lame automaton esque things running around lol.

Another thing is, why did they name scout, but not the caster, or pet job.

Maybe if it were Scout, Arcanist, Summoner I'd calm down a bit.

red mage has never really beeen THE debuff class. That only ever happened in XI. Red Mages are known for their mix of white and black magic
Red Mage has always been proficient with Cross-bows up until they were removed. XI is the only true appearance of RDM that wasn't. White Mage was also proficient with Cross-bows. But just like it would be in XIV, Cross-Bows were not effective in combat for a half breed mage. It just doesn't work right. Especially in a game like this where you half to manually fire and scroll through all of your spells in the same bar.

Red Mages have always had the ability to learn Half of the White Magic and half of the Black Magic. Both of those halfs included All of the enfeebling magic.

Up until XI Red Mage was the Front Line Mage. XI attempted this but failed simplly by allowing the RDM to feed tp to the enemy. A very simple problem to get around.

Yep, you'll get basically the general style Thief has been in the Final Fantasy Series.

FFXI's solution to making sure pet classes aren't over powered was to make it so nobody could do anything to pets outside of special skills. Because of this, when haste got put into the picture, pet jobs always lose because the pet doesn't benefit, so they are at a disadvantage.
My automata had decent amount of haste, I'm not sure about other PUPs though..

Yeah, RDM used to have marksmanship skill in XI, that's about all I can recall, otherwise RDM has always been the Mage with better Sword Skill and Dagger than BLM yet was more of a balanced mage in the arts -- BLU was the one mage with better sword skill (XI) and debuffing powers in some instances over RDM (Death/Suicide/HP based damage etc.)

That is wrong WHM used a bow in a few FF and RDM always used either a sword or dagger or rod, and RDM have never been Debuffer's more like half white/ black mage. BLM usually had the most debuff's tho mostly useless.

Need a caster that enfeebles, since THM and CON are seemingly losing those spells.

I swear I still don't remember a single cross-bow Red Mage or White Mage. I do remember Bows and Arrows, but no Crossbows.

And not to aggravate, but that argument about they being enfeeblers because they learned most white and black magic in their mix and that included the enfeebles is pretty straw man. Check this out:
"Blue Mage has always been an debuffer, no one can dispute that. They learned stuff like Bad Breath and Petro-gaze." even though they got things like Mighty Guard and White Wind.

And personal experience, though this is just personal, for the most part a Red Mage on parties meant "the healing, hasting, protecting, occasionally nuking mage that didn't die in one blow". God knows debuffing in Final Fantasy is tremendously useless unless it's Slow.

I really, really, really do not want to see disposable pets as beastmaster was done in XI. Although it was a novel idea to work around the classic charm spell, I'll give them kudos for creativeness at least. I want to tame and train a beast, not send it heartlessly to it's death.

As you've mentioned, I'd love to see pets which are maintained by the player. Much the way it works in basically every other MMO. I want to feel like my pet is my partner and an extension of my character. Including advancing it via leveling, equipping, upgrading, breeding, earning new abilities for it. Have the pets either be a variety of roles or be adaptable to different roles. Allow the pets to freely follow you around (costing mana is lame, if my pet is my partner is should be around me all the time, similar to a knight or mage always having their weapon with them at hand)

I don't want to see pets be filed under the upcoming XI buddy system cross-over either. I'd hate to see vanity pets as well, kinda a slap in the face to real pet classes.

That was player induced, much like DRG being "loldrg" simply because they no longer could spam Penta Thrust -- THF was (still is) a great job and has always been one of the best pullers, hate management and damage dealers (lower - mid levels), it's just players who only treated it as a 'TH whore" and pretty much cemented it into that role, and since there's no real way to increase treasure in this game through traits, it won't suffer the same fate at the hands of players
